Re: Tax proof in the UK

This any good, Bob. Warwick It's OK until you get to the bit about why you think you are tax resident in the UK which takes you to questions about the length of time you have spent in the UK in the last year (if less than 183 days you fail the Statutory Residence Test)! Bob. Spanner in works time -...

Re: Withdrawal Agreement & our Rights - What's covered?

The source of the following paragraph is from https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/work/taxes/income-taxes-abroad/greece/index_en.htm “You are tax resident if you are in Greece continuously for a period exceeding 183 days, including short periods of presence abroad since your first day of presence...

Re: Withdrawal Agreement and Our Rights

I hope you're right, but all references I've seen confirm existing rights to the end of the transition period.... You are looking at ancient references, Glenn. It is absolutely clear in the link posted by Carol: https://britishineurope.org/2020/01/25/wa-health-pensions-social-security/ It doesn't s...

Re: Withdrawal Agreement and Our Rights

Meanwhile, yesterday I read (in The Guardian) that some Brits are rushing to buy and establish residency in places like Spain before the end of 2020, while today I read that "Britons in EU remain fearful of post-Brexit healthcare and pension provisions " I'd say it might not be the best ti...

Clearing out old papers

Before we'd even moved in here a local Brit friend warned us to keep every official piece of paper that came our way - "You never know when some idiot bureaucrat might ask for it" Now we're clearing junk prior to moving and I've come across fat envelopes full of collections of retail recei...

Re: Greek EHIC card for a resident Brit?

... our broadband comes via a satellite and the times I have used Skype in the past there was such a massive delay I found it difficult ... I think that this is not a bandwidth problem but a circuit delay problem. Try using Speedtest and look at the ping time. On my landline broadband connection it...

Greek EHIC card for a resident Brit?

Is it even possible for an expat Brit to get a Greek EHIC card? Seems like an odd thing to apply for, but you never know. I'm guessing it will be called EHIC even in Greek, but if not would be happy to be corrected.

Re: Small pet in the plane cabin to the UK?

Thanks for the various replies. In the end we located an animal boarding kennels near the airport that can provide the same service as the people we used when we came to Greece - pre-checking all the documentation, crating up the animal, delivery to the appropriate part of the airport etc etc. It'll...
