Not just in rural areas, the town of Glastonbury now doesn't have a single branch of any bank.
Businesses have to drive miles to deposit cash.

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

How would this apply if you are relatively new resident and not entitled to a 5 year blue certificate or applying under S1 for the first time?

Importing vintage vehicles

Does anyone have experience of importing vintage motorbikes.

We have two old Brit bikes that we would like to bring with us but not if the cost is prohibitive.

Of course if the Greek tax is based on "price when new" then we wont be liable for much :D

Re: Cost of Living

I don't know how I didn't come across the old thread in my searches but I've had a good look now. Thank you for the link. Nothing appears to be unrealistic but the end result seems a little strange. If you take out the obvious expat things like trips to UK, you still end up with a figure for net inc...

Cost of Living

Like everyone else who has ever thought of taking the plunge and moving to Crete I have been trying to research the comparative Cost of Living particularly with the current Brexit blip/death spiral (choose one :? ) affecting Sterling. Whilst all sources say that Crete is cheaper than UK to live, var...

English speaking accountant

Could anyone help me with finding a good English speaking accountant in the Makry Gialos / Ierapetra area?
I've tried searching on the forum but most people appear to be around Chania.

Re: POST-BREXIT continuing healthcare

Unless I've read this wrong the healthcare bit of bl**dy Brexit seems to have less disagreements than other topics. It looks as though things might stay the same. Not get better you understand, just stay the same. https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.gov.uk/...

Re: POST-BREXIT continuing healthcare

......I don't think it is possible to answer your question, Sinkingslowly. Warwick You are right of course Warwick, there is no answer at the moment. However, people on this forum are very good at finding snippets of info and I was hoping that there was something I had missed which would at least i...

Re: POST-BREXIT continuing healthcare

Like everyone else on here I hope that the existing reciprocal healthcare arrangements will continue unchanged after Brexit (actually I hope that Brexit doesn't happen at all but that's my own opinion). Has anyone picked up on any slipped details about who the possible future arrangements will apply...

Re: Property size

PS Can you explain this concept of "strict codes". This is from memory and things may be different now. If a 2 story house was advertised as 100sqm then that was the internal area defined by the German building codes as habitable space. The house could have a full multi room cellar but th...

Property size

I've been looking at several estate agents adverts for older properties and I have a question for you people with more experience. Is there a formula or agreed set of rules defining the square meterage of a property? For example if a house is advertised as 100 sq m would that include storage areas, ...
