Re: Roll out of the vaccine in greece

There was a report in the UK media a few days ago that Hungary had broken ranks with the EU and had ordered the Russian Sputnick vaccine, which of course has only been approved for use by the russian regulators.

Re: Cost of heating oil

BST said john4d.......Money isn't everything . I agree, which is why I said in my post Despite all of that I wish I was back in Crete, but my lack of mobility both inside and outside the home currently prevents that. He also said nor are ugly solar panels on the roof. Not many people in Crete have E...

Re: Cost of heating oil

Hi Warwick Last year I paid about £950 for gas & electric, but now I've changed supplier and on last years consumption it will be £804. Having paid energy bills in Crete for many years I do know its high cost, and the cost of motor insurance €2,200 pa for insuring my 2.8 litre camper van compare...

Re: Cost of heating oil

Around our way it's €0.36 per litre, but of course I am currently in the UK. Just a comparison you understand. I don't buy it because I'm on mains gas, oh you haven't got that have you.

Re: COVID-19 Vaccination

My understanding is that the 27 EU countries will recieve their vaccines from the EU. The EU will purchase these and share them out to the 27 countries as it deems fit. They will also determine who will be elgible to receive a vaccination. I have not yet seen any indication of how many vaccines the ...

Re: UK car to Crete Import cost?

If you import a car for your personal use at 'very little cost' there used to be a condition imposed as to how long you had to keep the car before you could sell it in Greece. Is this still the case?

Re: Alarming rise in cases on Crete.

If I remember correctly the east of Crete was occupied by Fascists and the rest of Crete by the National Socialist German Workers' Party, (Nazi's). Of the two the Fascists were not as harsh as the Nazi's.

Re: Flying Crete - UK

Crete is an island, Great Britain is an island, but England is not an island. It shares uncontrolled land borders with Wales and Scotland. How are these two countries going to prevent their residents from travelling to English Airports and flying from there? I'm sure Manchester, Newcastle and Bristo...

Re: WHAT IS THE FUTURE FOR CRETE POST CONVID-19

Maud Wrote My hope for Kriti is that it will recover quicker than most places and countries once a vaccine is found. Today the first reported case of a patient catching Covid-19 for the second time, albeit a different strain. This certainly throws doubt on the hope that people who have had the disea...

Re: Cap on university places for medical students

Jean wrote It's expensive enough anyway compared to many other EU countries where universities are essentially free. There seems to be two systems of University Education 1) A system where university places are very restricted and only the very best students can attend. This allows the state to fund...

I'm sure jackdaw is more than capable of defending himself, but I found the reactions to his post, although understandable, a little strong. What is the expression, you have to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes to understand them. No one knows anyone else’s circumstances. A person might have a suc...

Re: Car emissions test

When my car passes its MOT the tester tells me any ‘advisories’, highlights the date of the next MOT and the Date of the Emission Test. Two years later when I go back for the next MOT they never ask to see proof of the Emission Test. Is the Emission Test Data held centrally?

Re: Let's alter history

Oh look here's a parapet I'll stick my head over it. 1) I saw an interview on TV with one of the activists in Bristol who said (paraphrased) "We sent a petition to the Council to have it removed, they talked about it but did nothing, so we had to take action" However just the cause can the...
