Re: POST-BREXIT continuing healthcare

People under the state retirement age and working and in the IKA system should hopefully carry on as normal, if they meet possible residency requirements ie 5 years permanent residence in Greece, or will we all get residency if we live here before the UK leaves the EU. It would be nice if details we...

Re: E1 tax submission - prove you're married??

Friends of mine couldn't renew their ika books last year until they produced a translated copy of marriage certificate but we've never been asked..yet. Just one of those things we love about Greek bureaucracy :)

Re: E1 tax submission - prove you're married??

We were told by our accountant this year that he couldn't proceed with the online submission of our tax return because there was no copy of a marriage certificate on tax office records. We provided him with a copy of the certificate and he arranged translation through a lawyer, we were charged 30 eu...

Re: Selling a property in Greece

We had assumed that the buyer would transfer money direct from her French bank account to our Greek account but shortly before completing we were told her lawyer would be presenting us with 2 drafts/cheques each one half of the purchase price, he signed the back of the drafts. When we paid them into...

Re: Selling a property in Greece

I asked the buyer to transfer the deposit to a Lloyds Off shore account as the exchange rate was better than my UK bank accounts, I don't use online banking so I didn't get involved with companies like MoneyCorp or anything like that. 2 amounts were paid in probably to do with charges the buyer woul...

Re: Selling a property in Greece

We recently sold a village house, thought I'd run through the process as it might be useful to sellers out there: The legalisation process was started in 2013 and due to the changes in the law at the time which put everything to do with legalisation on hold for a while we didn't get a copy of the to...

Re: Thought we'd seen the back of him

Sorry Warwick, the one for non EU nationals is the permit I meant, at the moment we don't know anything, even if we are given automatic rights to stay will there be conditions like how long we have lived and worked here legally, a certain level of income/pension, health insurance and who knows, a ba...

Re: Thought we'd seen the back of him

Or as the lady says Brexit means Brexit but I'm afraid I've no idea what it will mean :) let's hope getting a permanent residence permit, if you qualify, will be as hassle free as everything else involving Government departments :) :)

Re: Thought we'd seen the back of him

Obviously not feasible but that is when Referendum Part 2 should be held, when people know more facts, I wouldn't be surprised if there would be a different result..

Re: Thought we'd seen the back of him

I'm not a fan of the EU but to me any Brit living in the EU and being in favour of and actually voting for Brexit I can't fathom :) why vote for something which will/is going to create years of uncertainty and a lot of stress in some cases.. Selfish thoughts perhaps putting ones personal situation o...

Re: GREEK TAX ON UK TAX

I was confused by this article but it refers to a Greek national living in Germany and not a German national living in Greece. Below is the correct summary from Greek Reporter... The Council of State has ruled that Greek citizens who work and pay taxes abroad should not pay income tax in Greece. Gre...
