Re: Residence permits.

I'd thought about getting a permanent one a while ago but thought there's no point as after Brexit it won't be valid as it's for EU nationals ...but now if it will make the process easier post Brexit then I'll get one, I'm in process of changing my driving licence so a bit more hassle won't be too b...

Re: Car tax for 2018

Filippos, I don't do online banking, never have, so for me nipping in the bank at the start of December when it's quiet is no big deal, and it's not that cold :) :)

Re: ALERT for Greek Tax Residents - Pay Out

Sorry, should have said UK certificates In telephone conversation with accountant he asked for Greek bank account number to check my eligibility on the computer system so when he mentioned bank interest I assumed he meant my Greek account, not the amount of interest entered on my tax return from cer...

Re: ALERT for Greek Tax Residents - Pay Out

It's the interest from savings that are on the certificates of interest that is entered on tax return, over 81 euro and you miss out

Re: ALERT for Greek Tax Residents - Pay Out

I was thinking it was generous, I kept money here from a house sale but it was a village house not a 2 million euro villa .. someone has probably done a typo and it should have been 8.50 not 85 !

Yes I was surprised that amount of interest was one of the conditions, seems a bit odd

Re: ALERT for Greek Tax Residents - Pay Out

I declare Greek earnings and provide certificates of interest for the tax authority, id assumed that the money I've transferred to Greece from UK must have counted as income as I didn't qualify for the dividend but that's been confirmed it doesn't, my accountant asks for the information but it doesn...

Re: Car tax for 2018

I'll try to remember to pay using the machine next year instead of going to a cashier and see if there is any charge :)

Re: ALERT for Greek Tax Residents - Pay Out

I'm tax resident and declare worldwide income, wages and money transferred into Greece, I need to clarify it again with Accountant, I transferred more than 9000 over so thought that's reason for not being eligible, I'll speak to him again :)

Re: ALERT for Greek Tax Residents - Pay Out

Things were lost in translation :) I thought the accountant meant amount of money in bank not annual income, I don't qualify as even tho my income is lower than 9000 euro , money transferred from UK counts as income which puts me over that threshold

Re: Car tax for 2018

If you don't do online banking or don't have access to a printer, if you have the green document you received when buying the car you can take it to a bank and pay , it has reg number and tax number that's needed. Eurobank charge 1.50 euro not sure about other banks but it's easier for me to do it t...

Re: ALERT for Greek Tax Residents - Pay Out

I asked my accountant about this today, we would have qualified for 400 and 300 euro each but.. there is a ceiling on amount of money you have in your Greek bank account/s...9,000 euro. We have more because of a house sale and we didn't transfer all the money back to the UK .

Re: POST-BREXIT continuing healthcare

People under the state retirement age and working and in the IKA system should hopefully carry on as normal, if they meet possible residency requirements ie 5 years permanent residence in Greece, or will we all get residency if we live here before the UK leaves the EU. It would be nice if details we...

Re: E1 tax submission - prove you're married??

Friends of mine couldn't renew their ika books last year until they produced a translated copy of marriage certificate but we've never been asked..yet. Just one of those things we love about Greek bureaucracy :)

Re: E1 tax submission - prove you're married??

We were told by our accountant this year that he couldn't proceed with the online submission of our tax return because there was no copy of a marriage certificate on tax office records. We provided him with a copy of the certificate and he arranged translation through a lawyer, we were charged 30 eu...
