Re: Info for getting married in Crete

Once signed and witnessed with a Notary, you take the Contract to your local Registrar who registers it.

What's a local registrar? Isn't it the notary who registers it?

Re: Info for getting married in Crete

me and my partner would like to have a civil partnership for financial reasons and we own a property here. Looks like we will wait forever for the UK to legalise hetero partnerships and just wondered if anyone knew a quick cheap way on Crete to do it? Very simple here. It's called Σύμφωνο συμβίωσης...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

It looks like the English version is well out of date. No more translation required and only one photo needed. i also don't think that I paid as much (last summer) as is mentioned (82 – 108.15 euros). I think that it was more in the region of Euro 30-40 but Caroline might remember that one better.

Re: Greek Driving Licence

We went to KEP for the driving license exchange, after having got the permanent residence permits in November, but were told we needed to get the permit 180 days before applying I was under the impression that it wasn't possible anymore to exchange the driving licenses through KEP (went to two of t...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

No need for translation. My driving license also cost Euro 30 including motorcycle entitlement. Note that the photo ID for the driving license has to be a very specific has to be of a very specific size and design. The lady at the mixanologiko told me to mention that it was for a driving license whe...

Re: What does being a greek resident get me?

The Knossos cheap ticket concession is for over 65 not over 60.

The concession also applies to other archaeological sites and museums but it only for EU residents (if the cashiers follow the rules to the letter).

Re: Vehicle Import

Greek authorities want a certificate from your former home country, that you deregistered and don't have any address there anymore

What about people who have two homes? Is it not a matter of moving your residency rather than giving up a home?

Re: Flights December - January

"just before Christmas, returning to the U.K. in early New Year" is peak season. Just as expensive as peak season in summer except that you don't have the option of using charters. If you can start your journey before the 20th of December and return after the 6th of January it should be sub...

Re: About Crete

As far as I am concerned outdoor Crete is unfit for human habitation in high summer.

This summer hasn't been very hot. And Amari is quite high up so probably a fair bit cooler than the coast, especially with a meltemi (finally!) blowing.

Brian, just in case this wasn't clear to you...this forum is about living in Crete, not Brexit. You already started one thread on Brexit, do we really need a second one?

Re: DEYAAN account number

If the bank doesn't accept the payment code have you considered the possibility that you are trying to pay the wrong water authority? The list in the bank payment page is pretty long (and if you are using the English page the translations of some of these water authorities can be confusing so maybe ...
