Re: UK Food in Supermarkets

I don't understand what you are trying to do but to your question about "better supermarkets" I think that it's limited to AB, SYNKA, Halkiadakis (I guess they still exist) and Sklavenitis (which bought Marinopoulos). You can also add a growing number of Lidl supermarkets

Re: Green card car insurance.

When i took my car to "Europe" last year my insurance company printed me out a green card paper, on the spot and for free. So I did have something physical. I can't tell you if it was a legal requirement to have one. Then on the other hand of you go to UK post-Brexit entirely different thi...

Re: Brewery and glamping in crete

I expect it will only take 5 years or so before the Greek state has sorted out all the new rules.

But why would there be a need for new rules? There already are existing rules that apply to non-EU citizens

Re: Brewery and glamping in crete

I think, that businesses owned by foreigners are taxed quite high? What a strange concept! Do you really think that the state would be allowed to tax foreigners any different from Greeks? But yes, taxation is VERY high practically forcing you to evade taxes if you want to make a living and not give...

Re: ATM charges

Am I missing something in that article? I thought that banks had started charging for ATM withdrawals almost 2 years ago (with the exception of one or two banks).

Re: Kalo Paska

We had a couple of gunshots yesterday, but as we have a VIP here at the moment, the police are up and down the lane monitoring things. I guess they are worried about an assassination attempt! At least it made for a quiet time on the ‘explosions’ front.

Do you live in Rodakino?

Re: Highway Roadworks near Aptera

Went through from Chania about mid-day and police were sorting it out. Yes, I passed it yesterday going East around noon time and the queue was long but moving fast, very well managed by two cops. 6 minutes delay. On the way back (around 20.00) to my surprise I didn't have to stop at all, waved rig...

I think that sometimes it's better to use a travel agent. At least they'll know who to phone.

Re: Cigarette smoke issue

I do know of a few certain tavernas/restaurants in Chania town that really do stick to the so called official no smoking policy, Just made me think that it would be nice if we could make a collaborative list (within a new thread possibly) of restaurants and cafés that stick to the no smoking rules....

Re: We have moved in!

I think Wind also offer a WiFi dongle that effectively gives Internet connectivity through the mobile network. Worth looking into. Indeed! For some reason I was under the impression that they'd gone out of business but obviously not so. Same would appply though: you need to test it where you are go...

Re: We have moved in!

I am trying to set up WiFi in my villa

Do you mean that you are trying to get an internet connection? If considering mobile then it's either Vodafone or Cosmote and how well either works is entirely dependent on where you are located. So you'll need to test both or ask your neighbours.

Just read that too. 13 years after the law was passed. Looks like it could happen before we die.
