Re: The Far East

I knew what standard Hotel Zakros was, the owners were lovely, the room was almost clean, smears on windows & mirrors, clean sheets, towels etc, the fridge was far from pleasant, with a really bad smell, the aircon worked after a fashion, but I was unable to alter the temperature. The ensuite ba...

Re: The Far East

Guy M, I stayed in Zakros itself, at Hotel Zakros, as I was visiting a friend who lives there. It's
a bit of a dive to be honest, but it only cost 52.5 euros for a 3 night stay, including breakfast and all I wanted was a base as I was out with my friend most of the time.

Re: Greek Driving Licence

I've recently received my Greek driving licence, which I exchanged my UK one for. It took 6 months to come through. The licencing office in Heraklion told me, the biggest delay was from the UK, they took 4 months or more to reply & confirm my UK one was valid & what categories I had on it. I...

Re: The Will of the People

OK, speaking as a retired Civil Servant, albeit from a politically based family, my father at 92 years old has recently become a Parish councillor & stood around 60 years ago for Parliament. I worked for HMC&E, then HMRC, then UKBA then UKBF, before I could take it no more & was in the f...

Re: IKA and AMKA

My understanding of this, is that they have NOT retracted the rights from people regarding AMKA, they have just rescinded the simpification process for acquiring an AMKA number from non EU citizens, illegal immigrants & refugees to what it was 1 month ago. I am NOT saying I agree, but it's not a...

Re: External Villa Painting

I have never heard of this, if something sounds too good to be true, it's normally a BIG con. Ask the firm to give you details of their satisfied customers, tell them you want to see examples of their work, especially a house they did 15 years ago, that still looks perfect!!!! I think they will be r...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Having spoken to many friends from all over Crete, it appears that almost all of them, that live in the Agios Nikolaos area, have had a lot of problems exchanging their UK Licence for a Greek one. Without exeption, they have all said how UNHELPFUL both KEP & the Licencing Office has been. I know...

Re: Car Ownership

The accountant for the deceased person, can give you the paper to make the missing car tax payment. A friend of mine is in the process of inheriting a house & a car from his deceased father & this it what he has done. All the papers are with his lawyer, to claim his inhertance, so I don't kn...

scooby, why are you still a member of this forum?
You used to live here on Crete, you've sold up & moved back to the UK, What interest do you have in this forum anymore, other than to argue with people over Brexit?

Re: Transferring funds, and pink slips

Technically I am classed as Tax resident in Greece, however, as my sole source of income is from the UK, a Civil Service Pension, I am taxed in the UK. I transfer money from my UK bank to my Greek bank account via TranserWise, as & when required. My accountant needs the "Pink Slip" fro...
