Re: Latest lockdown rules - clarification?

Hi all, small update if it's of any use to anyone else on this forum: I spoke to civil protection service, and they said that driving to a pharmacy (B1) and larger supermarket (B2) is allowed even when crossing municipalities within the prefecture (ie driving for more than a few km's), and is not li...

Re: Latest lockdown rules - clarification?

It means you cannot leave your home at all, ever except for one of the 6 reasons specified. There are a couple of exceptions, e.g. going to work but that requires a different permit. I decided to chat to the local police station about this issue.. they seem to think that if the (vacated and normall...

Re: Latest lockdown rules - clarification?

so you cannot totally rely on it. It is OK for a general overview yeah, that's what I meant.. I found their overview for zone differences better than other sources! esp re so-called "b-red" (ie Rethymno) Even then it wasn't clear if it only applied to retail shopping. that's where I'm sus...

Re: Latest lockdown rules - clarification?

Here is an article given details / differences of zones (yellow eg Chania vs B-red eg Rethymno vs RED eg Ag Nikolaos) https://news.gtp.gr/2021/01/29/covid-19-greece-divided-red-yellow-risk-zones-measures-announced/ (it may not be updated for regions/zonation but lists measures) What I still find puz...

Re: Postal addresses

A couple of thoughts IDm: 1 Are you using an Android phone? The article doesn't say anything about other operating systems such as iPhones. 2 If you look under "Location" in "Settings" does it show "Emergency Location Service" as "On" Warwick yes to both

Re: Latest lockdown rules - clarification?

the rules are what the Civil Protection Ministry announces in official bulletins not what was discussed in media reports. I have no idea if the 2 hour limit was introduced for retail shopping or not? I didn't see an official bulletin with it included but then I might have missed it. I read news tha...

Re: Postal addresses

When I had to call 112 recently they asked for coordinates of location So obviously the implementation of the geolocation on the 112 number is not as it should be Correct, even though they are supposed to track mobile phone location.. I made a point of asking whether they can see where I'm calling ...

Re: Postal addresses

in an emergency (police, fire, ambulance etc) when you can't give a postal address? When I had to call 112 recently they asked for coordinates of location, which they then transmit to the regional/main department that delegates the dispatch of needed service.. so you go to google maps, find the exa...

Re: Latest lockdown rules - clarification?

As far as I can see that document describes ALL the rules as of 30 January. Nowhere is 2 hours mentioned. I know, but then why would they have this rule for like 1-2 weeks when retail opened? (especially as they did not exclude supermarkets which is essentially separate reason for movement as neces...

Latest lockdown rules - clarification?

Hi everyone, I'm a bit confused following changes & currently cannot find sufficient details in English/newspaper/official gov webpages updates (links to GR sources welcome!) I understand about the Red zone/1 details (which is not the case for Crete) and remain none-the-wiser for specific detail...

Re: Requirements for part-time residents in Crete

One question IDm. Are you visiting Greece as an EU citizen or a non-EU citizen? I live here permanently as first degree family member. btw found this by accident while looking for office operating hours https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/...

Re: Requirements for part-time residents in Crete

right to the new card is automatic so there should be little or no processing delay. sorry, just to clarify again: delay is not due to them assessing whether ones is entitled, but due to their processing time (I rather want to say - habits..), so the queue is such that one is stuck for months on en...

Re: Requirements for part-time residents in Crete

From your reply, IDm, I am guessing that you are not an EU national and have been applying for a Biometric Residency Card as a third country national? Almost like you said, except I got direct ties to Greece (and UK) so my application was based on that fact (versus property ownership residency, in ...

Re: Requirements for part-time residents in Crete

Hi Warwick, to clarify what I meant / you comment on: KEP do not issue EU Residence Certificates nor are they authorised to apply for you That is so; however, in my experience, local KEP is likely more informed/up-to-date than the local police station; in my case, they were nice enough to explain wh...
