KTEO

As our MOT runs out on 19 Jan, does anyone know if the KTEO opposite Lidl in Mournies, Chania, is open yet? I know all MOT stations were shut last week, but does anyone have any definitive news on whether our MOTs will continue to be valid if we can't get to an MOT station? I would be grateful for a...

Re: Marital Status

As is continually being stressed in the UK, regarding immigrants who should abide by UK rules, the same goes for Greece. You come to live here, you abide by their rules. If they ask for something you can't provide because it is not available (like the marriage thing), negotiate! The Greeks will alw...

Re: Online delivery address

Taxidromiki (old UPS) are useless. If parcels from Amazon or eBay arrive in Chania at their depot we get messages saying no address or insufficient information for delivery, which is b........ks. What they mean is..we can't be bothered delivering your parcel! I've found that Taxidromiki are pretty ...

Re: Latest Covid stats for Crete

Either the government is lying to us and there are many more cases or the decision to include Chania in the midnight curfew but not Rethymnon, which is in the 5 to 9 category, is completely crazy. It would be pretty easy to track the daily numbers for each Nomos on Crete and create your own spreadsh...

Re: ENFIA 2020

For general information, this was posted on Kriti24 this morning: "During the coming week, ENFIA bills will be posted on Taxisnet and 7.3 million taxpayers will be informed of the property tax they have to pay. ENFIA will be paid this year in six monthly instalments, with the first paid by 30 S...

Re: Nothing has changed on here then

"It's such a shame that this once interesting and informative site over many years has been reduced to dominance by one gigantic bore." IMO, it's such a shame that this "interesting and informative" subscriber who, I have no doubt, has helped many, many people over the years with...

Re: Carpal Tunnel Surgery

Thank you for all suggestions. I may well look into acupuncture/physio instead of an op, even though I loathe needles! If this doesn't work out, at least I now have the name of a doctor to approach as a last resort.

Carpal Tunnel Surgery

Has anyone in the Xania area had wrist surgery for this condition? I would appreciate any recommendations re surgeons, private clinic vs general hospital, approximate cost, etc. Thanks in advance.

Re: Withdrawal Agreement and Our Rights

It seems a bewildering array of information. However, some of the UK papers today are updating the information on the rights of UK expats living in the EU (Guardian and Telegraph amongst others). Also, it was reported in KeepTalkingGreece recently that, on Jan 6 this year, a bill was presented to th...

Re: TOEB Water Cut

Thanks for the general comments. We have olive trees on our land and therefore have a legal right to agricultural water. We (together with several other local residents) submitted an application for domestic water at Vamos town hall in May of this year, but last week were told that, so far, there is...

TOEB Water Cut

Our agricultural water (our only supply of water to the house) was cut on Thursday morning last (28th November) . When I phoned on Friday, I was told it would be back on on Saturday. As this didn't happen (no surprise there), we went into the TOEB Kalyves office on Monday, to be given a garble...

Re: Health Insurance/IKA

If you have a State Pension from the UK, you can apply to the Business Services section of the NHS for an S1 (via the http://www.gov.uk website). They send 2 copies of the S1 out to your address in Greece and you then take these to the local EFKA (IKA) office, who process your application for you on...

Re: Transferring funds, and pink slips

Yesterday our accountant submitted our tax return with no problem after we gave him photocopies of the relevant online banking statements for the months we transferred income from the UK.
Re transfers, we have used Currencies Direct for many years and would recommend them to anyone.
