Re: Living in Greece info updated

Quite correct Keltz but a scenario to ponder..... A uk expat not yet of retirement age lives in Greece with a valid residence permit but has failed to inform the DWP or the Inland Revenue that they have moved abroad before December 2020 - although in government guidelines, it’s never really been tha...

Re: Living in Greece info updated

What Warwick has said regarding the Greece side of residency is of course correct. The point I wanted to flag was for the benefit of those expats who in the past may have “flown under the radar” and those who have not yet claimed their state pension or entitlement to reciprocal healthcare. My concer...

Re: Living in Greece info updated

As Greece has adopted a declaratory system relating to residency it is up to Greece to decide if they want UK expats to re-confirm residency after the UK leaves the EU. The deadline for this is six months after the end of the transition period but this can be extended by the host country if they hav...

Re: Tearing up the withdrawal agreement?

Having now read the UK Internal Markets Bill (yes all dry as toast 54 pages) and revisited the Withdrawal Agreement text, I can see why this has caused such a stir. For not only does the bill breach International law it also contravenes a number of British laws. It’s quite common for new domestic la...

Re: Tearing up the withdrawal agreement?

In my opinion if the UK government proceeds with plans to change the withdrawal agreement in anything relating to Ireland then obtaining a US trade deal is likely to be jeopardised. Since the Trump presidency the authority of the US Congress has somewhat been undermined, but one area where it retain...

Tearing up the withdrawal agreement?

On the eve of the latest round of BREXIT negotiations it is being widely reported in the media (worldwide) that Boris Johnson is going to introduce legislation to undermine the terms of the withdrawal agreement - an international treaty. Here are some quotes from the Keynote address by Michel Barnie...

Postal services after BREXIT

The government have recently published their guidance on transport of goods to the EU after the transition period. Just a couple of points to give a heads up on: “From 1 January 2020 the customs declaration requirements currently in place for the movement of goods by post and parcel between the UK a...

Re: Advice for uk citizens in greece updated

Ahh yes...having dusted off my copy of the Withdrawal Agreement which sadly used to be my bedside reading, I see what you mean Warwick, thanks for nudging my brain back into gear. The last sentence I was confused about is just saying that it may not be a totally automatic exchange from the current r...

Advice for uk citizens in greece updated

The advice for UK citizens living in Greece has been updated https://brexit.gov.gr/uk-citizens-in-greece/ Perhaps someone can explain what is meant in the Section “UK National Living in Greece...”. Mainly the last sentence which seems contradictory. “ If you are already a holder of, or will become a...

Re: PLF and QR Code

To be honest toastie in the current climate I can’t see another passenger being all that willing to help you dad - I guess most people are trying to keep themselves to themselves. I fly Ryanair all the time and they are certainly not forgiving! If he hasn’t right paperwork they won’t let him board, ...

Re: PLF and QR Code

If you dad has a smart phone why not get him to take a screen shot of the code, this can be stored under his photos on the phone and will work even if he doesn’t have access to the internet. If often do this with boarding passes just in case....hope it helps.
