Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-49661855 Brexit: Scottish judges rule Parliament suspension is unlawful Basically, courts seems in the end to do what the local Government wants them to do. The ruling will be appealing to the Law Lords in London. I predict they will rule it was lawful, not unla...

Bring back Spitting Image I say. A bit of Déjà vu with this one as 'Blondman' seems to have returned in a different guise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_naEwU0vq0

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

I was sad to see Diane Abbott leave This Week as she was passionate and a good balance to Portillo's stuffiness. Both very knowledgable.

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

Yanus Varoufakis - 'And The Weak Suffer What They Must' is a good non technical perspective of how we got here. If you had read the book as you suggest in your comment you would know that the exact spelling I have used is correct and as printed on the cover of his book. No matter, since you have ta...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

If I remember correctly the Bilderberg Group was set up originally to ensure there would never be another disaster like the Second Wold War. They now look at matters like climate change and world poverty It was Maud however "The group's agenda, originally to prevent another world war, is now d...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

shows there is still some decency in a few politicians. It seems unfair to blame them personally for years of austerity. I admire your faith Maud. Both Ken Clerke and Amber Rudd helped implement removal of support for the less well off while ensuring the wealthy pay less tax. They both voted for Au...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

I agree with Warwick that representative democracy is a myth. The antiquated 2 party system of first passed the post elections allows a veneer of democracy to be preserved while Labour and Tory follow the same policy. At PMQs they tear into each other but when the cameras are turned of they queue up...

Re: Absolutely no reason!

Picking up on your last paragraph Warwick, it looks like the 'dramatic events ' of the past week and today are massive distracts for domestic UK consumption while the 'secret' negotiations with EU have been revealed to be a threat that the government intend to disrupt the EU as a member followed by ...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

To be fair, if my family are worried and I say ‘it’s ok, i’ve got a back up plan’, they will be justified in saying ‘what is it?’ As nobody can predict where we will end up, contingency planning may only be possible by assessing the level of risk you are willing to accept against what you think mig...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

A lovely imaginative story toebs leading down blind alleys and distracting, that today, as with yesterday, nothing has actually happened with Brexit. If you listen to the press questions put to B. Johnson tonight at his 1 hour late 'impromptu' speech to the nation, one after another stated the blind...
