Re: WHERE TO BUY TROPICAL PLANTS AND PALMS

Hi, well we made it out here eventually, albeit completion took until November (don't ask) followed by delays due to knee surgery having fallen off the boat we live on near London, then Covid! The advice on dryness and wind is really useful, thanks. I have learnt a lot from the Mediterranean Gardeni...

How much should we be paying?

Hi everyone, well after a year buying our house above Sitia we are finally here, even Covid couldn’t stop us :D . The gardens have been pretty neglected for a few years now except for some sections being rotivated, and having recently had a replacement knee I am currently not the gardener I used to b...

Re: How long should it take to purchase a house?

"When we made our house purchase our lawyer went online in front of us and checked the tax/ENFIA/ utility bill status of our sellers she knew in an instant that it was all clear." - This is interesting, I will ask our lawyer about this. The deposit was paid directly to the owners. Recent c...

Re: How long should it take to purchase a house?

No chain. Ownership is fine, no idea if their tax/ENFIA etc situation are up to date but I know they pay things by direct debit and are responsible people. The survey produced a minor fine which they paid. They like us are desperate to finalise. It's just getting their lawyer to respond to anything ...

How long should it take to purchase a house?

I am at my wits end! Deposit paid end of 2018, completion date agreed for spring 2019. An excellent lawyer fighting our corner. Modern house with no problems. So why has the sale still not completed? I don't want to walk away, I have invested money, time and dreams in this house and met some lovely ...

Re: WHERE TO BUY TROPICAL PLANTS AND PALMS

Thank you. Scary that the palm beetle came in on imported plants which are supposed to be screened for pests, i would have thought. Same as vine weevils in the UK I suppose. More sensible to buy indigenous I agree. I might be better to grow certain plants from seed from screened companies. I saw the...

WHERE TO BUY TROPICAL PLANTS AND PALMS

We are hopefully completing on a house near Sitia in the next month, fingers and toes crossed. I want to create a "tropical" looking garden, aka Hunte's Garden, Barbados. I know I will be limited on what can survive the heat/dry conditions and that I will need to grow many plants from seed...

Re: Outdoor furniture

Hi Sinkingslowly, I am so glad you posted this as I was about to post exactly the same and now have all the places to go. Thanks everyone. We are, hopefully, fingers crossed, completing on a house near Sitia, in the next month and I have been searching for places to buy garden furniture.
