Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

Bloody Corbyn. If he'd held back from election Boris would be on the ropes; can't go forward, can't go backwards. I think Corbyn will stay as Labour leader, though. He controls the party; they have no means to despose him. So now we have Johnson, a hard Brexit, the economy will tank. Christ, the onl...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

So, predictions time. I make predictions by thinking of the very worst possible outcomes - outcomes which could not happen by chance but which would require real human effort and ingenuity to bring about, where the outcomes striven for are utterly and obviously stupid and terribly destructive to eve...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

Well, I received my postal vote ballot on the 9th. I posted it in the morning on the 10th; it comes with a pre-paid envelope. It has to be in the UK before 10pm on the 12th. I do not think it will arrive in time. I inquired about DHL, and the answer was that it would cost 47 euro, which was too much...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

From the New York Times. U.K. Conservative Party Scolded for Rebranding Twitter Account The temporary name change, to “factcheckUK,” was an effort to “mislead people” during an election debate between Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Jeremy Corbyn of Labour, Twitter said. https://www.nytimes.com/201...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

It's necessary for privacy when using the Internet in general to use Tor.

Even so, I can see I'm still being fingerprinted by YouTube. I don't use Youtube much, though, indeed, I actively and strenuously avoid Google and MS.

I use and only use Tor for web-browsing.

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

Well, back again after some time - started a new contract, so been busy, and logging into this board and posting is always difficult because of the anti-Tor protections (which don't work well enough to stop me, but work well enough to make me post less often). Labour appear to be throwing themselves...

I think this is very good;

Opinion piece from Tony Blair.

Basically - vote for moderate, realistic MPs, regardless of party.

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

From the BBC; https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-50221856 Mr Corbyn said his condition of taking a no-deal Brexit off the table had "now been met" after the EU agreed to extend the deadline to 31 January 2020. But it hasn't. It's been deferred by three months. I may be wrong but it seems to me La...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

Not THIS parliament but it is looking quite likely that there will be a new Tory heavy government by Xmas. If the Lib Dems and SNP vote in favour, and only a simple majority is required, then I think yes, there's an election, is that correct? Johnson by the looks of it is still pushing for 12th Dec...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

...I also note the recent change in Labour's messaging, where they're now banging on about workers rights and so on, mainly I think to avoid having to actually talk about Brexit itself and whether they're for or against.... I neither support nor have any respect for any political party but I think ...

Re: I smelled a rat, and I found a rat

Of course with a constituency system with First Past The Post, you get to vote for a local MP. In Cheltenham, my U.K. home, I actually bump into the Conservative MP and his Lib Dem challenger for the marginal seat walking round town, and both of them respond to emails quite quickly. It’s the oddest...
