Re: Got our Residence Permits today

Didn’t ask for AMKA number, didn’t know they might have. AMKA is on the list to investigate. Next though is to pay our tax at the bank. Can’t use our Greek bank account as it is frozen (European money laundering precautions) our cards were out of date through non use so we need to re-apply for cards...

Took an hour and left clutching them with smiley faces. Had to produce (each) Passport, 2 x passport pics, EHIC card, Deeds of the house, Bank book with at least €2,600 and an electric bill. Fill out a basic form and pay 20 cents. We had been to Insuranceline’s office and each got a basic private he...

Re: Residency

Tried several times to book a cabin but a Covid popup kept appearing warning about sharing cabins, the only option was to close the popup and then it didn’t allow me to book a cabin. Booked airplane seats and changed to a cabin at Piraeus, €67 we’ll worth it as my wife was determined that if the dog...

Re: Residency

Might be talking to Stavros soon, good info. Update on our trip Drove down to Ancona (2hrs) from Rimini after an enjoyable evening there. Check in was a nightmare, lots of very angry people struggling with the Covid formalities, particularly the FLP form. Cabin prices were horrendous, so booked Busi...

We’ll go into Italy from France via Switzerland, planning a stopover in Dijon or Lyon. Will check the situation there. Hope I can find a website with that sort of info.

Residency

Just read on another forum that an application for residency can only be made after supplying evidence you have been in Crete for 3 months. Brexit states you have to be a resident on 01/01/21 to maintain pension increases etc. We were planning to come out mid to late October therefore if this is a c...

Re: UK car to Crete Import cost?

A quick look at the Supercars link shows the prices are about Double or triple the cost for an equivalent car in the UK.
The Mini Cooper S at €9,600 in the UK would be around £3000.

Re: UK car to Crete Import cost?

Will probably end up driving the Merc over and then try and sell it to someone coming back. 149k is a relatively low mileage for a 3.2 diesel so it might be of interest to someone for spares.
Or I’ll have a posh ‘Olive car’. :)

Re: UK Bank accounts for ex pats

The program was aired yesterday and a friend of mine listened to it. He is a consultant in International trade And finance. Apparently the FCA, financial services authority loses its authority/ reciprocal agreements with Europe after Brexit and they are the driving force. If that is the case it will...
