I just spoke to KEE and they said they are running courses, from mid-November, twice a week for three hours each. They said to go down to their office in Chania, taking a photocopy of one's passport, and enrol. See ya there, Warwick.

I have never heard of an orphanage in Chania, my hubby has lived here 50 years and hasn't heard of one either. The CIC are affliated with a local charity 'Gift of Love' which donates such items to poor immigrant families. You can contact the CIC through their website www.thecic.eu.

Your parents must see a local lawyer, who will advise them what to do. Perhaps if the conservatory next door is illegal, you can use that as leverage to cut down the tree. Greece works on compromise and pressure, the court route will take you years and in the end, it won't be much of a victory.

The site that I use, UKNova, has strict rules about what it can and can't host, what's legal and what's not. Whilst it's always prudent to be cautious, I'm quite confident this site is ok.

I am cancelling my subscription to Sky because I don't think it's good value. After reading a particularly helpful post on the other site, I investigated downloading Uk tv programmes free via bit torrents and now I'm doing this instead. If anyone would like to know more, then I'd be happy to share m...

Sky is not really 'minus a few channels', it's more 'minus most of/ and all the interesting ones'. No terrestial except C5. Graeme will give you a list if you ask him.

I heard an interesting fact. Apparently, the top two eu countries where home ownership is considered of prime importance are UK and Greece. Other europeans aren't so interested in owning property, choosing to rent very long-term instead. It's a matter of attitude rather than funds. Although the gree...

Unless you have another source of income, forget it. Crete is so deeply in recession that, with all due respect, Brits can't imagine how hard it is get by here. Because the 'foreigner real estate' boom is over, there are no opportunities in that field now either. There is NO commerce or industry or ...

It is very difficult for greek people to find reliable work, near impossible for non-greek speakers. The best thing to do is read back on similar posts on this forum.
