Re: Heraklion - worth a full day?

We are planning a late Spring visit to Crete and, for the first time we will head off east from Heraklion to explore that end of the island, rather than heading for Kalyves and the west. As we have two weeks, we were wondering wether to spend a couple of nights, ie one full day, in Heraklion before...

Thanks for the information, it sounds a bit worrying. :( However, we have got a bit of money that we can rely upon should nothing happen. It cannot be worse than the UK. :? Eric Without sounding to harse I would suggest the grass isnt always greener. I would dearly love to move and live the life in...

That hill has to be one of steepest I have ever walked up, I stayed in the Chistos Apts, they are just before the steep climb to the mountain villages above.

Hi, I am not living in crete myself as yet but I have to say that I would be most interested in your sausages if I were! Are you going to raise the pigs in crete and ship from there, or would you import them? Its an excellent idea, shame you couldnt supply bacon as well :D

I am not sure that this will be good advice but I plan on having a holiday next year and I should think that the two weeks away in the sun for most families will be the last luxury to go, many people would rather maybe not buy that new car than not have a holiday that they have worked for all year. ...

Thank you so much for all the replies and I am glad it is not just me that feels this way about crete! I wonder sometimes if other people have found an island that we all rave about so much. It is so hard to put a finger on the awesome magic Crete seems to have over us all. For me it is the friendsh...

Its a good question, I wish to take my brother on holiday to crete but he has a fear of flying. I am guessing it would be a very long journey by car and almost an impossiblitly without having to cross borders and catching a ferry or two, definitely a ferry to crete any way.

Does anyone have an address for the orphanage in Hania. I have some good toys/clothes I want to take there but can't find out where "there" is! Hi, I have just done a quick google search and come up with this, I hope it is of some help. The monastery of Panagia Kaliviani is located at the...

Hi, I have visited most of the northern part of Crete, though I always end up back in a small village called Panormos. It is so beautiful and everyone is so friendly, only a handful of tavernas and a couple of quiet bars. I have never been a fan of commerial area's and lads on tour area's so it suit...
