Re: Airbnb

Another aspect of the Airbnb thing - when people stay in self catering accommodation, they often just use it as a base and generally go out and use the local bars and restaurants. With Airbnb and the like, they are renting places with fully equipped kitchens, TVs, Netflixs, sofas etc. They have no n...

Re: Transporting my Dog back to the uk!

Popi and Yiannis are the vets in Agios Nikolaos who dealt with my dog's passport, vaccinations etc. when we travelled around Europe. They are very conscientious with the paperwork. Telephone 2841 100303

Re: IKA Renewal Heads Up

Can anyone advise the procedure when one has IKA health cover through the S1 form, but has worked for a few hours a week last season (for the first time ever in Greece), paying the appropriate IKA contributions? Any additional paperwork that is required, declaration from accountant etc?

UK Flag

Does anyone know where I can buy a Union Flag / Union Jack in the Agios Nikolaos / Malia / Hersonnisos area? Approximately 1.00m - 0.50m. Thanks in advance.

Re: New tax allowance - UK

I received an email fom HMRC over a year ago asking if I would like to register for this. I wondered if it was a scam at first but it proved not to be. Maybe they started with people registered for self-assessment.

Re: Peeling chestnuts

They are much easier to peel if you boil them rather than roasting them. Also they are not as dry if you are using them in a recipe. Boil them for about 10 minutes - just test one to see if it's done.

Re: Bottled gas availability.

Thank you Warwick, for saying what I was going to say! We have had absolutely no problem finding Autogas in Crete. Perhaps it's something you only notice when you are looking for it! Just one point though, the map is out of date - there is at least one I know of that isn't on it!

Re: Bottled gas availability.

As you are building your campervan, have a look at fitting the Gaslow system of refillable gas bottles. Whichever country you are in, you just find a fuel station selling autogas and refill through a filler cap. This means you can also have gas suitable for wherever you are - eg freezing conditions ...
