Re: Facebook problems

I get many messages (?posts) on my smart phone and it is annoying

No need to delete your Facebook account. On your smartphone go to Settings and locate the Notifications section where you can control what you want or don't want (sound alerts, pop-up messages etc) on each individual app.

I don't know how the rest of you are doing with problems accessing BBC iPlayer but as of today, two weeks after reporting it, my DNS server provider announced a fix and all seems well...

Re: iPlayer

As Unotelly can not give me an ETA on fixing the problem I tried another DNS server company called Overplay and bingo...I can now access BBC iPlayer again. Easy to set up on a wide variety of devices, $4.95 a month.

Re: iPlayer

I too have had this same problem with BBC iPlayer since Wednesday morning. I use a DNS service with Unotelly and when I reported my problem with accessing BBC iPlayer they responded by saying that they were aware of the problem and that their engineers were working on a fix. I pointed out to them th...

Palm Weevil Alert

I live in the Apokoronas, between Kefalas and Drapanos. Although the Palm Weevil has been in this area before we have not suffered any damage... until this weekend. The noise emanating from the trunk of our largest palm was like that of a fast-boiling preserving pan. Click on the link http://youmigh...

New Restaurant in NW Crete

This is just to share our experience of a recently opened restaurant “Chez Pardon” in Douliana run by a charming couple, Kris & Elfi Pardon. They are both accomplished chefs; the cuisine is Belgian/French pitched at a high level using the best ingredients and the table settings and prices reflec...

Re: BT Sport SD

BT Sport is changing radically as it will have all the Champions League this year instead of Sky. They now have a BT Sport Europe channel, a BT Sport ESPN channel as well as BT Sport 1 and 2. I don't know how that will effect viewing via Sky, I watch it via the BT Sport app which is also changing.

Re: Technical help

In the Kefalas area we have never had anything higher than 8 Mbps possible from the Vamos exchange. Until about a year ago I used to get just above 5 on a good day but now it is generally 3.5 Mbps and very often a lot less. I switched to WIND a few years ago but friends who are with OTE and had been...

Re: air conditioning

We had a Haier inverter air conditioning unit installed three years ago. The Chinese brand was unknown to us at the time but we were reassured after doing some online research. It has been running fine without fault so far.

Re: Rain, Rain, go away

You can read all the statistics that you like, they clearly can be very useful but can also be misleading. The cumulative rainfall total for one year may record it as being "average" but as far as perception goes it depends on when it fell, how regularly, for how long at any one time. Befo...
