Open a sterling account with your first cheque and you will probably find that the funds will become available to you in 18 banki...

Amazingly the bloke at Eyeland, which is the shop on Daskalogianni St (nearly opposite the 2nd-hand shop) fixed the camera! Thank you for the info Phil. I wil treat it with care for a few weeks just to make sure it really does work well. Incidentally he (Giorgos) confirmed that if you drop a digital...

Yesterday and today I got a pop-up on the screen saying that Windows was changing my virtual memory. I assume it meant the pc's vm!! Do I need to do anything about this?

Bob.

Camera shop

I had the misfortune on a recent holiday to drop my camera in a salt lake! Does anyone know of a camera shop in the Chania area where they could take a look at it and declare it (in writing!) as being irreparable? Believe me, it is!! Need the statement for the insurance company; I could send them th...

Interesting! Our local jet oil station is not selling its heating oil (if it's got any!?) until January because "the government won't let suppliers deliver at the moment without an up-front payment of €500 for every 1000 litres they deliver" (direct quote from garage). Where that fits into...

At the moment, anyone getting prescriptions gets charged 3 euro at Vamos. New system for tickets: you can still turn up any time you like, but the tickets and receipts for money are not dished out until 8am when Despoiona gets there! Usual scrum for the queue, but not really too bad.

maybe missing something....but why would anyone want to bring a UK car over here with all the hassle? I had a beautiful 7 series BMW in the UK but left it behind and started again (with a much less desirable model I may add). 13 years ago the second hand car market was even more dire than it is now...

I found 'The Grocer's post very interesting. 13 years ago I did all the paperwork through the Greek consulate in London, got my certificate of change of residence etc. Arrived here, renting property, not buying. Customs initial estimate on the quayside was Dr. 1,000,000 (about £2000) at the timeand ...
