The road blockade near Megala Chorafia etc appears to have gone. Driven indoors by the rain and cold p...

Perhaps now would be a good time to turn in your old residence permit and get one of the new, perpetual ones?

Correct me if I am wrong but last year didn't the Agriculture Minister run away and hide in Brussels before the farmers arrived and weren't the farmers were met by the SWAT squads and tear gas at Piraeus? I was under the impression that the government of the time offered millions of Euros as well? ...

Farmers will close the Chania tax office tomorrow (Wednesday) morning by demonstrating outside and then travel to Athens tomorrow night to protest at the Ministry. Strange that they should try Athens again, after last year's debacle. Perhaps they will leave their tractors at home this time? Up-to-da...

Farmers' blockade

Just heard from a local that the farmers will be blockading the National Road again near the Souda Ferry turnoff as of Tuesday next week, possibly for as long as 20 days. Malaxa/Samonas will be busy again!

Editing postings

Is it possible to edit a posting before actually submitting it? I clicked on Preview, saw an error, but couldn't get into it to correct it, so in the end came out of the site altogether and started again. Not a big chore - only a small posting, but marginally annoying!

Computer-savvy police?

One wonders if it would be possible for computer-savvy police (or anyone else for that matter) to work out where, geographically, the posting referred to in the link below originated?

I like the Greek Met Office one at http://www.meteo.gr/waf.asp and also http://www.crete-meteo.com/ because I can get very localised forecasts. If I'm going to be in Rethymno town or Chania I use accuweather or weatherunderground. I prefer this one for the Souda area - it seems about 95% reliable. ...

Paul H says "this is what I said would happen if you try make something out of rumour and gossip. " Fully agree. And, given all the things you say, can't see it happening this year anyway! However, it is useful to get an update on the current situation which is what the combined contributo...

Hang on a moment. I've just been talking this over with my other half and hit a fairly substantial stumbling block. Kilkis says; "The point is to try to force customers to demand receipts from businesses who, supposedly, don't usually give them. At present there is no real reason to ask for a r...

Thanks for all of that folks. I still find it very hard to imagine submitting a receipt for a couple of euros when I buy a pint of milk and a bicky, but there you go. The sad thing is that the retired civil servant in me will want to keep everything in date order rather than just shove it into a sho...

Not seriously talking about receipts for anything other than major works or purchases though, are we? Seems ...
