Re: Uk/Crete Postal Service

I rather fancy the idea of about 150 people from the Kokkino Horio, Plaka, Kambia, Drapanos, Paleloni, Vamos and other villages all turning up at the post office in Vrysses demanding to see if there is any mail for them. Every day for a week. That would soon sort things out. On reflection though, pe...

Re: Uk/Crete Postal Service

We generally try to post in Chania - letters posted there on a Sunday generally reach their UK destination by Wednesday but Tuesday is not unheard of. From UK to Crete is a moveable feast for us as we only get mail twice a week in Kokkino Horio (and only once a week when our normal delivery day is o...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Just one point to remember that I don't think is covered above. If you change to a Greek licence, that is renewable every 3 years.

I thought you could extend your licence in the UK online these days without visiting doctors etc? Bob

Well Phil. As we know, nothing is agreed until everything is agreed. Fat chance. Bob.

Re: EU joke(s)

All good erudite stuff folks! Can I just add one small point of view. As far as the US is concerned, I would not want to see ANY trade deal with the US as long as that idiotic, egocentric bully Trump is in charge. Anyone who can decide foreign policy with a couple tweets is just NOT TO BE TRUSTED. S...

Temperature predicted to be in the 20 to 24 C range and mostly sunny........ When I said to the waiter, "Αυτός ο καιρός είναι σαν την άνοιξη.", he contradicted me with, "Οϊ, είναι το καλοκαίρι." I agree about the need for some rain. P.S. "Οϊ" was the only way I could t...

Re: VODAPHONE MYSTERY

Talked to Vodaphone (our company) in the UK today and were politely told to talk to Vodaphone Greece. Having rung their number (13830) 3 times from the mobile and got nowhere ('For English, please press 9 .....silence.....Δεν Καταλβένω") I rang from my landline and the 'press 9' instruction wor...

VODAPHONE MYSTERY

We have a vodaphone mobile here in Crete. Recently had 3 different messages sent to us from daughter in UK. Each message purports to come from a different UK mobile number, only one of which is daughter's phone. The other two come from phones which neither we nor she knows anything about, but they A...

Re: Overseas Voting Rights Bill

I just wish I had someone 'in authority' to whom I could legitimately write or with whom I could chat, to voice an opinion about how the Government uses the money I 'give' to HMRC every year! As they said all those years ago, 'no taxation without representation'. So why are they dithering? Bob.

One of the things I recall from over 60 years ago on a Boy Scout camp was cutting ivy all the way around affected trees, so that it would die off above the cut. Seemed to have worked when we visited the 'treated' trees the following year. Bob.

Re: Can I borrow my car..

Almost sure you can lend your car to family (or anyone else) if they have a valid driving licence which is recognised in Greece. Unless things have changed recently, it's the car that is insured, not the driver (although the recent move by an insurance company not to reinsure a customer over the age...
