Re: Greek Driving Licence

Spoke yesterday with a guy who runs a Chania driving school. He was adamant that there is no law about the test for over 74-year olds. It has been proposed, he said, but is not yet law. I thought I had read last week that it had become law. Mmmmmm Bob.

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Thanks Warwick. Sound advice. As you say, lose a bit of time on the licence but hopefully avoid hassle over holidays! Will keep you posted. Bob.

Re: Greek Driving Licence

According to an ekathimerini article the requirement to sit a new driving test every three years when you reach 74 and every two years when you reach 80 has now been implemented. It does apply to drivers who swapped an EU licence from a different country for a Greek one. At least we don't need to t...

Re: New House Purchase

It looks like the thinking is getting much more joined up ? Warwick Well yes. If it has taken 3 years for someone to work out that an hotel has only made €10 in a year MUST be on the fiddle (see extract from article below) then heaven help us. That tax return has gone through the hotel's accountant...

Re: Water Shortage

Am I to understand that filling the pool with drinkingwater for which I'm paying is illegal? Same for watering the garden? According to a mid aged Greek friend with connections to the water company, first fill of the pool should be by tanker. Top up via house water is accepted. Watering a garden is...

Re: EHIC card

As promised, I did pursue to the issue, and got this in response, relating to me and my wife who are both getting the UK State retirement pension: ' If you do not hold a copy of your S1 form, you can alternatively take a document from the Pension Centre to show you are both receiving your UK State P...

That's how I would interpret the previous posts. Why not just ask your bank? Bob.

Re: Paying Electric bills

Probably the same as paying the OTE bill - done through the bank. Got mine set up to do it on line through my bank account. Saves paper. Bob.

Re: EHIC card

Just got this from the NHSBSA site: Q I live overseas and have a valid EHIC issued from the UK. Can I use my card for treatment if I visit the UK? A : If you require medical treatment whilst visiting the UK you are entitled to this free of charge, just like someone who is normally resident in the UK...

Re: EHIC card

There are effectively two types of EHIC, although you cannot distinguish them by looking at the card: 1 If you are resident in the UK you apply to the NHS for an EHIC. That card can be used anywhere in the EU but NOT in the UK. You don't need to use it in the UK because you are registered with the ...

Re: EHIC card

For what it's worth, I think that the EHIC is issued by your country of origin within the EU. Initially we had one issued by Greece, valid for one year, but after that the cards have come from the UK. My understanding is that it is not for us to use in the UK, just elsewhere in Europe. Chimes in wit...

I also dont think they leave much around for vermin and if they did they would probably catch the vermin. OK. See you sometime up at the bins in Kokino Horio where the apron of concrete is littered with bags of household rubbish which have been opened by the cats and then left. Plenty of cats aroun...

Re: Things aren't always what they seem

Bizarre that the head of the IAPR would not know this. Clearly there is already a link, as you say. Andrew As bizarre as the situation a few years ago when IKA discovered it was paying a pension for someone who had died about 8 years before and IKA had paid for his funeral!!! Left-hand, right-hand?...
