Re: Lawyer - anybody knows him?

Plaka - good choice! Especially good for burglaries, I hear? It used to be called "Little England" but it seems to be changing to "Lille Norge". Cheerful soul! 'Little England' was Gavalohori until about 9 years ago, then the dubious honour passed to Kokkino Horio. Wasn't...

Re: Military aircraft

Is this incase they miss? :D Well, there was a case a few years ago when one of the surface-to-air missiles fired in a northerly direction from the base on the Akrotiri went bananas, turned around and started heading in the direction of the white mountains. Thankfully of course, it was destroyed be...

Yes. Once or twice a year the navy fires guns at target buoys in the bay. Often the turn from the National Road into Kalami is closed by police for the duration of the activity.

Re: Red toxic dust

On the Weather Underground forecast for Souda rain is predicted for Thursday with a possibility of some on Wednesday and Friday. Also the temperature is supposed to drop from a maximum of 35 C today to 19 C on Thursday. I actually used the aircon this evening and I've never done that in May before....

Re: Lawyer - anybody knows him?

A friend of mine wants to buy a villa in Plaka. They found a house with Minoan Properties. As they do not know any lawyers, Minoan suggested a Vasilis Maropakis in Kalives. Is he known to anybody here and can he be recommended? Thanks for your help. Vasilis is handling the legal bits of the sale of...

............ but if you are East of Chania, the Apokoronos Craft Guild may be of interest. Depends where you finally settle: there's a lot of Crete East of Xania. It's also a fair run from the south coast (Plakias) to Apokoronas but there's some great scenery on the way. In Plakias the main beach f...

Film On

Anyone any idea what has happened with film on since 1 May? It is on my favourites list on Kodi and was fine on Sunday. Next day, trying to watch snooker on BBC 2 was so frustrating I gave up in the end. Programme ran for about 2 minutes, then screen went blank and reverted to the Favourites menu. T...

Re: Climate Change

From previous posts Martin, it is clear that you are a 'non-believer' when it comes to Global Warming, and your selection of links (except the last one which said it didn't exist!) and their negativity obviously support your view. Doubtless someone on the forum will nibbler at the bait and come up w...

Thought these were the kind that didn't flash? Haven't heard of anyone getting a fine yet though, so perhaps they are really just for show!

Re: Electric Shocker

Just got the new-style electricity bill. No sign on it of the discount. Previous bill was paid on-line on 9th Feb; the due date on the bill was 3 March, so well in time. (That one had a discount of 15% very plainly marked in a box below the guff on the left-hand side. Current bill shows that the pre...

Re: LIVE FACEBOOK Q & A

[quote="Kilkis" Personally, although I have IKA and use it for regular prescriptions, I normally pay for any treatments I need. The cost to see a specialist is usually very low compared to the UK and readily available. If I was forced to move back to the UK all my healthcare needs would fa...
