Re: cremation in Greece

Went to a disinterment a year or few back and the body wasn't 'ready' so they just put the lid on and waited another year! Good old Greece. Wouldn't really want to be anywhere else. Bob.

Re: The Will of the People

Personally I think we are about to jump off the edge of the cliff. Tonight's vote is meaningless as far as making anything binding. It will do no more than confirm that most people don't want a no-deal ending to this farce. Nothing legally binding though. That then leads to tomorrow, when voting for...

A guy called Kyriakos, on 6972604992 speaks good English, turns up when he says he will, and does a good job. Bob.

Re: cremation in Greece

It would be good if this move gathered some momentum. It is true that some funeral directors here will take the deceased (and relatives if presumably they pay their way) to Bulgaria and then return with the ashes. Certainly one of the two in Kalyves will do that - last price I heard was in the regio...

Re: Living in Greece without Registration Certificate, help/advice needed.

About 15 years or so ago, a squad of cops from I think Iraklio descended on Almyrida and caused a lot of grief amongst Brit expats who had lived here for some time but never registered their cars. Confiscations etc were enforced. Not happened since, to my knowledge. Moral: if you want to take the ri...

Re: Life Certificate

They stopped the winter fuel payments !... When ,Why, How .... I've been waiting for mine  I was gonna spend it on something totally frivolous ... It stopped yonks ago - in fact we only got it for one year. Can't recall when it was but seem to recall it was in Cameron's time as PM in t...

Re: Life Certificate

I've just had a request to complete a life Certificate from UK pensions service. Does anyone know if a stamp and signature from KEP is acceptable to the UK to prove that I am alive? Thanks KEP office in Kalyves will do it. I'm surprised at that peebee. The lovely ladies in KEP in Kalyves told us fi...

Re: Driving Licences

Went to the Chania Licensing Office today to enquire when we might be called for a test in order to renew our Greek licences. Answer of course unknown, but a warning from the very helpful bloke on the desk that the testers 'are on strike again for another couple of months'. When I said I would need ...

Re: West or East

Sorry about the double post. Got a server error message first time, but it obviously worked OK! Bob. When that server message pops up I find that just refreshing the error page usually solves the problem and the post appears. It's also quicker than going back a page and submitting again. Thanks Phi...

Re: West or East

Don't forget the F16 jets daily low flying sorties in pairs. You must live on Akrotiri! Not necessarily Jean. We live in Kokkino Horio, opposite the airport, and they continue to fly low over here as well, zooming up over Cape Drapanos with tremendous enthusiasm, vigour and noise! We are regularly ...
