avacados - help please

Many reports say avacados are good for people with type 2 diabetes but I just do not like them. Anyone with recipes to make this frui (vegetable?) palatable without adding too much sugar or carbs?

Secondly, how do you tell in the shop if an avacado is ready to eat?

LIC Clock is slow!!

The time displayed at the top of the opening screen is one hour slow. I had to check both computers and my phone to make sure - they update automatically.

Re: DRM and e-books

Thanks all. I've downloaded the app and can read the books on my PC. There are still difficulties in using e-books for study purposes and so I will buy the real books in future but not from Amazon. I still think that their imposition of DRM on e-books is wrong because the "buyer" is not to...

DRM and e-books

I have purchased from Amazon a number of books that are relevant to the study in which I am engaged. I tried to load them into Calibre software because viewing this type of book on a full size computer screen would be useful. So too would being able to cut and paste small quotes into my study docume...

Re: Easter 2018 at the Catholic Cathedral Chania

Thanks Bob.

Many years ago I was having a bad time and I found myself in the Catholic Church where the singing was so soothing. I also visted the church when there was no service and the atmosphere was again soothing.

May God bless your services and give you all special blessings.

Re: Spring Forward

I broke my clock by pushing the hour hand forward instead of using the button on the back. If I was in England, maybe I could get the gutter press (which paper is not in this category) to print an article blaming the government for carrying on this tradition and/or the clock manufacturer and/or the ...

Re: Uk/Crete Postal Service

My experience of ACS is of parcels for my daughter at school, often heavy boxes of books, sometimes just something small. They deliver in the morning when the school is not open so leave a label. Sometims it is from the office in Chania you mention but often from Souda. The labels on the post box ou...

Re: Uk/Crete Postal Service

I allow about 3 weeks from placing an Amazon order with standard delivery to receiving an email from the post office in Athens to be followed by one from the local post office at Mournies. It seems that the size of the package makes no difference - the other day I picked up a small package (DVD) and...

Re: How to Watch UK TV Abroad

I use https://robssatellitetv.com/ which I subscribed to in order to watch 6-nations rugby and quizzes like Eggheads, Mastermind, University challenge etc (oh what joy when I get just one answer right!!). The modest cost is much less than the British TV license. Why do expats want to watch British T...

Re: Sands Across the Sea

I am somewhat concerned that the air we breathe is the same air that deposits dust everywhere. For the first time in my 77 years, I had a cough in November which periodically comes back but is relieved using an inhaler that is normally used by people with asthma. A friend also has this cough and man...

Re: Being pestered by 13888

After several attempts to get an English speaking person at 13888 (after responding by entering a digit in the opening menu to speak in English), I was asked to supply my phone number (why when I had already said I was using the phone) but then asked for my AFM number. Why, I asked. It's policy, I w...

Being pestered by 13888

I am receiving 5-6 phone calls every day from these pests. If I answer it is someone jabbering away in Greek who instantly shuts up when I speak in English. It is one thing getting calls in the morning but entirely different when I am woken from the afternoon siesta - a much need nap for one who doe...

A 5-digit phone number is stealing

I queried my high mobile phone bill only to find that there are 5-digit numbers who send SMS messages that cause a charge to be made on your phone bill even though you delete the message un-read. Last month there were 12 such messages and I was charged 22 Euros. The assistant at Cosmote was helpful ...

Re: Get a phone picture printed professionally

Thanks filippos Eyeland gave excellent, if a bit chaotic, service. I had five smaller pictures to fit existing frames and to send to UK and they would not take any money!!! The big one in a frame was magnificent and was given to my daughter as a mother's day present - she was absolutely thrilled. I ...
