Hold on Mike,I can't believe you are serious. Smoking inside is against the law in Greece. It's not enforced but that doesn't make it legal. Why should I have to sit outside, where it has been quite chilly in recent days, to avoid the stink caused by people breaking the law inside?

My wife used the renewal service at the Peterborough office while visiting the UK for other reasons. The cost was about £125. She made the appointment 3 weeks in advance and avoided any worries about registered post and couriers. There is a four hour wait which she happily spent in the nearby Peterb...

The not very cheerful basic premise seems to be as follows. "Deaths are outnumbering births, people are leaving the country, and the population is aging so fast that in a few decades Greece may be unable to produce enough wealth to take care of its people and may cease to be a viable nation sta...

Greek digital TV

I have just bought a set top box to allow the reception of digital Greek TV channels. In the days of the old analogue system I needed to connect the aerial to the TV via a booster box in order to get a decent reception. Is it likely that I will need to do the same with the new digital signal?

I've never had to do this. I can only presume that my accountant somehow obtained it himself? He has certainly been filing my tax return on-line for some years now. Warwick Our accountant has also been filing on line for at least the last two years. Perhaps something has changed. Although, as we al...

Kleitharithmos (for tax return)

Our accountant asked us to call into the tax office in Chania and get our kleitharithmos (key number?). It is to do with filing one's tax return on line. In case it comes up for anyone else, it's surprisingly simple (once you get to the front of the queue). On the ground floor of the Tax Office walk...

Greek MPs' salaries

Greek MPs will vote to keep their salaries at existing levels. http://www.keeptalkinggreece.com/2013/11/14/greeks-collapse-but-mps-keep-their-salaries-at-existing-levels/ Of course they will. At least they are not talking about an 11% increase like another group of hard working, dedicated politician...

Ermmm. Should have read the article properly instead of just skimming.

Post in haste, repent at leisure !!

However, helping Hand do provide help to needy families and do need all the support they can get in addition to the red baskets which they put in most local super-markets.
