Re: Clearing out old papers

In the almost 11 years that I have lived here I have never kept any receipt unless it was required for a warranty, TV etc. My Accountant never once asked for them. Now there is no need to keep them, announced last year by the Government. What you are expected to do is to make at least 30% of your de...

Re: Marks and Spencer Heraklion

Can anyone familiar with M&S in Heraklion please advise whether they have a good range of men's suits? Plenty on the website, I'm well aware, but want to check quality/fit without the faff of possibly having to return. I have not visited them this year, but last year and on other year visits th...

Re: Crete Documentary

There is an ITV documentary series on the Greek Islands that has just aired in the UK called 'The Greek Islands with Julia Bradbury'. Each episode is (somewhat disappointingly) 30 minutes long. In the first episode she visits Crete and takes in the Dikti Mountains, Lassithi Plateau, Rethymno and Sp...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Kilkis wrote I am not aware that a stricter medical is needed but I will be going for my medical at the end of January to renew my Greek licence so I will ask the doctor what has changed. Until then I can't really help. I would have thought that the doctor who did your first medical would know? Hav...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Kilkris wrote A medical test and an eye test are compulsory every 3 years from the age of 65 in Greece, not 75, and have been for many years. As Bob says, from 80 onwards you also need a psychiatric evaluation as well as the medical and eye test. As Theresa May would say, "Nothing has changed&...

Re: Greek Driving Licence

Has anyone heard any more regarding the Medical tests for those over 75 years?. I am still waiting, my Greek Temporary Licence has now expired as has my UK licence. My visit to the Office in Ag. Nik just got a Greek shrug and I was told to come back week commencing 6 January, but not on the 6th as i...

Hi Clio, Yes I have read Cornwell's book on Waterloo, read about 3 or 4 weeks ago. If you enjoy Cornwell as an Author I can recommend his extremely large book, Stonehenge. As for the Sean's Historic series, we stopped watching it. Not enjoyable at all. I have ordered from ebay the missing videos. I ...

Re: BRIDGE

Arguing at Bridge can turn nasty, my group prefer a short analysis if the contract is not made. We used to argue and through that lost a Player. Good news is that we have a potential new Player who has played Partner Whist and wants to learn Bridge. Bridge is a wonderful game, very good for the Brai...

A further Plea for Bridge players or anyone interested in learning the game. We play Rubber bridge once or twice a week. We are willing to change days and or time if it helps. We currently have 7 Players , 2 are currently on long term sick, one only visits the Island from Athens 3 times a year and a...

Re: RICHARD SHARPE

Yes, the books are better than the TV Series. In fact it is difficult to match the two together. I also have a full set of the books. Having just read them again made me want to watch the TV series. But we could not find all the full length films, hence my post. However I have been told that they ma...

Re: VPN recommendation please

Hairybloke asked If you're happy with your VPN provider, could you let me know who you use please? We've been very happy with unblockmytelly.com (previously S4UVPNsurfer). However, they've failed to send their latest invoice, and none of the links to purchase a VPN work on their website, so I presum...

Re: State pension inequality

I seem to recall Women were crying for equality in the work place. Equal pay also. I totally agree with this, equality and equal pay. BUT Ladies you cannot have it both ways. However, I believe that Female do not have to work as long as Males have to.So in many ways you are still winning.

Re: Driving

My advice to to work through one of the following sites which challenge about the Greek driving law/procedures (yes, surprisingly there are correct road procedures) . The first one is the best, scroll down for the car section. The others are also good. There are many differences to the UK, in partic...
