The IKA (48 days - euro 3000) was for the house build. IKA for the concretework etc etc is not included. IKA for the pool is estimated at 2000 euro.

We have a utilityroom under the pool where we have watertanks, oiltank. boiler etc and this also has to be legalized.

Re: Legalising your House

What I'm not sure is how IKA is calculated and what other charges are added in to make up the total. Don't ask me how someone arrived at following figures, but for our house IKA was calculated based: tiles 13 days work, paintwork 21 days and misc./ outdoors 14 days for a total of 48 days and the IK...

You could try the two beaches at the western end of Kalyves: compared with Almyrida they're practically deserted. Yepp, aware of that (been there couple of times lately), but since we pass thru Almyrida a couple of times a day when we're at the house we notice the packed beach and lack of parkingsp...

It was indeed very crowded at the beach in Almyrida /this/last week and at times difficult to park the car. There was less room for bringing own chairs this year than last year to the beach.

Not quite. Hypothetical example. You have a valid point but; The drastic increase in the price of petrol will in time lead to a much better/cheaper system of transportation. Local produce, as we are fortunate to see a lot of in Crete, will not suffer to a great extent as the petrol represents only ...

I feel like I'm really dumb! If one pound buys one new dracma and later on as a result of beeing devalued (which I gues is why one is even thinking to go back to dracma) one pound buys two dracma, then the imported good will double in price in drachma but stay the same in pound? Yes or no? I'll even...

First of all thanks a lot for rundown of Kalyves tavernas. When we are in Crete we pass thru Kalyves most every day, but seldom stop there for a bite. Will have to do something about that next time we go down to Crete! Will they not cost excactly the same amount as before in euro? If not, why so? We...

A global super-rich elite had at least $21 trillion (£13tn) hidden in secret tax havens by the end of 2010, according to a major study.

The figure is equivalent to the size of the US and Japanese economies combined.

There is a Taverna in the centre of Kalives that we eat in fairly regularly, beachfront May I ask which one it is? What I say is fill your boots now whilst Crete is cheap because if they come out of the Euro, all imports will cost a fortune! Will they not cost excactly the same amount as before in ...
