Not quite. Hypothetical example. You have a valid point but; The drastic increase in the price of petrol will in time lead to a much better/cheaper system of transportation. Local produce, as we are fortunate to see a lot of in Crete, will not suffer to a great extent as the petrol represents only ...

I feel like I'm really dumb! If one pound buys one new dracma and later on as a result of beeing devalued (which I gues is why one is even thinking to go back to dracma) one pound buys two dracma, then the imported good will double in price in drachma but stay the same in pound? Yes or no? I'll even...

Will have to do something about that next time we go down to Crete! Will they not cost excactly the same amount as before in euro? If not, why so? We...

There is a Taverna in the centre of Kalives that we eat in fairly regularly, beachfront May I ask which one it is? What I say is fill your boots now whilst Crete is cheap because if they come out of the Euro, all imports will cost a fortune! Will they not cost excactly the same amount as before in ...

In my mind something that's subsidised is sold below cost (a sort of giftelement) which probably is not the case with heatingoil. I hear everebody is talking about the heatingoil beeing subsidised but I beg to differ.

Anybody care to guess what cost of money (interest rate) will be on the new dracme if Greece converts to a new currency? Compared to interest rate on euro? For both steelproduction and cementproduction oil/energy is a very important factor and this will just as expensive in euro/dollar as before. I'...

Domestic/greek made products will be cheaper, imports will not! Cement and steel/iron will not either since it can be sold abroad for hard currency. Greece will not go from euro to new drachma and then devaluate, but all in one go. More potential buyers will appear since present uncertainty will hav...
