Re: Has anyone actually imported a car on moving over

Re: circulation tax changes we bought a new (petrol fuelled) car in March 2016, designated 1.6 litres but in reality about 1560cc and the tax is €156. The vehicle it replaced was just under 14 years old and designated 2 litres but was actually about 1950cc. One of several reasons for changing was t...

Re: That's all right then

Personally I’d rather not have it, as I don’t do doctors, not seen one for at least 10yrs... I tend to sympathise with that view. I used to teach preliminary year medical and dental students and realised how thick some of them were. In the end, however, our bodies tend to fail and then we need them...

Re: That's all right then

I think most people that I know who came here under state retirement age took out private health insurance. Some have continued it even when they qualified for an S1 form so they have both IKA and private insurance. They would use IKA for routine things like prescriptions and the insurance for anyth...

Re: Has anyone actually imported a car on moving over

...The normal customs fee ( I though more than 20%) is based on the original price of your car... The fee depends on a lot of factors but mainly engine size and year of manufacture. For a capacity of up to 900 cc and manufactured in 1996 or later the fee is 7 % of the assessed value. For a capacity...

Re: That's all right then

I was led to believe you needed private health care to get residency anyway. Not necessarily "private" health insurance. Under article 7 of Directive 2004/38/EC if you are coming under the condition that you are self supporting then you must prove you have sufficient money to live and tha...

Re: That's all right then

Until and unless it applies to me I haven't got the energy to investigate what alternative methods exist for gaining the right to reside in Greece. I know that one method is with inward investment of €250,000, e.g. buying a property of that value or above, but that seems limited for 5 years with no ...

Re: That's all right then

Pensions are effectively referred to in paragraph 28, Andrew: 28. Social security coordination rules set out in Regulations (EC) No 883/2004 and (EC) No 987/2009 will apply. Social security coordination rules will cover Union citizens who on the specified date are or have been subject to UK legislat...

Re: Has anyone actually imported a car on moving over

If you want to get a CERTIFICATE FOR DOMICILE TRANSFER EXEMPTION in order to avoid excessive import costs you have to do that in the country of origin. You have to present documentation to the Greek Embassy/Consulate there and get the documents certified by them. Obviously the actual importation and...

Re: That's all right then

If you have the stamina you can read the full text of the agreement as a pdf file. Some key clauses: 20. The conditions for acquiring the right of residence under the Withdrawal Agreement are those set out in Articles 6 and 7 of Directive 2004/38/EC, including the right to change status; i.e. the sa...

Re: One Drive on not-so-smart Samsung phone

Another thought, John. I am not sure if the bible app you were using gave you any special features that you needed but if not an alternative solution would be to download a copy of the bible itself as an epub or kindle document and simply read it with a reader app. You can get the Complete King Jame...

Re: selection packs

Ah. I see my mistake. I read "Pack of 8" in the Amazon advert as the selection box contained 8 items. In reality it is a price for buying a pack of 8 selection boxes. Thus, as you say, virtually identical price to Tesco. I hadn't bothered to read the details since I originally posted the l...

Re: selection packs

I think it is Amazon being silly. They aren't always cheap. Here are some Tesco examples. I just used the Amazon version to illustrate what they are. If you want a real laugh look at their Cadbury selection.

Re: email and new router problem

I'm not sure why changing your router would affect your emails? I recently changed from a non-OTE ASUS DSL-N120 to an OTE Speedport Entry 2i and I didn't have to make any changes to my email client settings. I don't normally use the @otenet address but I just did a test send from it and it worked fi...

Re: selection packs

I wondered if that was the case, Bob, but I haven't been in for a few weeks. I am planning to visit again in the next few days and was intending to report back. I would guess that they are not the usual brands? Carrefour used to have them in this time of year but don't exist now. I'll check out AB a...
