It appears that many will be exempt if their main residence is under a certain size or value, however many others may be affected. Questions will surely arise for holiday homes owners (e.g. think EOT licence = registered as a business = not a main residence). Definitely one to keep an eye on. If I ...

Re: He moved this, It is supposed to be about water softener

It as a sad state of affairs when somebody goes to the trouble of joining this forum to pose a serious question and the wise and learned amongst this community offer no advice whatsoever. He/she asked the same question on Interkriti and I gave him/her the best answer I could there. Unfortunately he...

They might work but that does not make them safe! There is a classic example of a plane that went down killing everybody on board because the pilot flew directly into the middle of a massive storm. A piece of equipment in the hold caused his navigation system to be offset several degrees. Air traffi...

I guessed it might be the delivery drivers since they were on strike some time ago. Intending to drive to Malia and back twice next week, which is stretching a tankful a bit far, so would be grateful if anybody has any new information. I would hate to get stuck down the east end.

Surely it is very little to do with Spinalonga. That is simply the setting and leprosy is the ingredient that makes it different. It is about people, relationships etc. OK it's not an epic. It won't win the Booker prize but have you ever enjoyed a Booker prize winner? When it comes to literary appre...

Fuel Strike?

Anybody heard anything about some sort of fuel strike? I was told the garages were going on strike and went out to fill up. Most of the local garages seem to be open but a lot are out of unleaded and don't seem to know when they will get any more. Are the suppliers on strike? The delivery drivers? I...

There is a free registry cleaner, see http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cle ... leaner.htm

I have no idea if it is any good. I think it is genuine, i.e. not a wrapper for something nasty, since it is on PC Worlds list of downloads.

The problem with most of the kettle descalers is that they only work when hot. I wouldn't really recommend pouring boiling water into an acrylic bath.

Viakal seems to work better than Cillit Bang but ordinary cheap vinegar is often as good. If you have the type of pop up plug with a thin rubber seal around the edge DON'T leave it in while you use Viakal. It seems to destroy it quite spectacularly.

Thanks for all the information. As I said in my original post the NBG problem is only one that I have encountered. I used that one as an example because it is very easy to describe and also to test. Some of the others are a bit more obscure. I have no axe to grind one way or the other but it does ca...

Firefox/IE6 Differences?

I wonder if someone with access to both Firefox and IE6 could do a little experiment for me. I have been using Firefox 2.0.0.7 for some time now and have recently noticed some anomalies. I am not sure if it is just my installation or if it is a more general problem. As a specific example if you open...

Fourteen years ago we rode to Greece on a motorbike and stayed for three weeks. Even with the restriction of two panniers and a top box we still didn't wear half the stuff we brought with us. Jean's friends reckoned they couldn't have even got their cosmetics, hair-dryer etc in the space available l...
