If she's ranidaphobic or batrachophobic keep away from the area around Agia south west of Chania. Millions of the little beggars.

Strangely Which have just done an article on choosing a PC. Three categories: Netbooks, All-rounder/family and Multimedia/professional. Two Dell Studios, an HP Pavillion and An Apple 13-inch MacBook came out as best buys in the All-rounder category. The Apple scored 7 % more than the others. Two Ace...

Could the unknown make have been Lenovo? If so it is the Chinese company that took over the PC section of that little known brand IBM. Still reckoned to be high quality. HP-Compaq are usually good quality as are Dell, that are now available in some stores rather than direct sell like they used to be...

I'm not sure that you can simply "fill in" your spouse's details on the E121? I think you would need to tell the DWP about your spouse and they should issue an E121 with their details on it. Back to the original post. As far as I can tell from the information given: Cathy is of State Pensi...

Hi Warwick - I think it's usually around the 15th April but am not 100% certain. Ask at a petrol station! Thanks Carol. I tried that but they never seem to know. Why will they stop selling it? I thought the oil wells were safe till 2012 ? Heating oil is sold at a subsidised price below normal diese...

A couple of little snags to watch out for. Friends in a nearby village, and several of their Greek neighbours, would like to get ADSL. They all have phone lines and numbers. The exchange is about 2 km away so no major problem. There are spare ports in the exchange. The lines, however, are so poor th...

Heating Oil Cut Off Date?

Does anybody know the date when they stop selling heating oil? I'd like to top up my tank as close to the cut off as possible.

If you're not sure of the spelling or where the stress goes, http://www.magenta.gr/en/lexicons/en_en_dictionary.htm is quite good. Scroll down the page to get the box to put a word in to translate. You can put in part words and it will give all the possible options.

Couples are taxed on the same form but assessed individually. All income the husband receives is put in the husbands column, added up and assessed against the tax tables. Similarly for the wife. If you both have income this is good because each of you benefits from their own 0 % band. If, however, o...

I can confirm that there are people working at the moment who don't have the Greek proficiency certificate. No idea what "security" measures the schools are taking.

It is possible to do it without a Greek Sterling account. If you tell your UK bank to transfer money to your Greek Euro account but to do the transfer in Sterling than the exchange is done at the Greek end and so gets the Greek exchange rate. There is a slightly increased fee but if the amount being...

I agree with Paul that I would put all security measures in place that I could if I was using a WiFi router. It is worth noting, however, that some people do deliberately leave them open so that other people can use them. I'm not just talking about commercial WiFi hotspots but ordinary individuals. ...

Looks like BeckL and I were both correct. The Mournies Champion has Alpro Soya in the fresh milk section. Plain, Vanilla and Chocolate flavours. Around 2.48 Euro per litre depending on flavour. It also has another brand in the organic section at, I think, around 3.24 Euro per litre. The latter has a...

Very strange. I found the receipt. I parked from 06:23:00 on 23.020.09 to 19:47:52 on 24.02.09 so 37 hours 24 minutes and 52 seconds. I guess that they count that as 38 hours and it was definitely 22 Euro exactly. I must admit that it was dark and raining when I looked at the board so I may have got...
