Re: Car Tax

A very helpful thread :) . But to go slightly off topic, is it true that 50cc mopeds do not need to be taxed? Thanks

Re: Heating Water

Thank you both. I did an experiment today , and as altohb says, it took 45 minutes to heat the water. For the moment, I've decided to put the immersion on as soon as I get up, then have a cuppa while it is heating. Will see how that works. :)

Heating Water

Hi, can anyone advise the most cost effective way of using my immersion please. I have solar water heating with a tank on the roof, and an immersion back up , which has been fine all summer. However now, I like a hot bath when I get up.. Would it be cheaper to put the immersion on and leave it on al...

Re: health insurance

I may be wrong, but I think backpackers insurance would be null and void If they found out you were actually living somewhere. Insurance companies will try anything to avoid paying out. Also, with backpackers, if you had an accident, they would try to repatriate you to the country of origin, which m...

Re: health insurance

Hi, I don't know if Health Insurance is a requirement of residency .But, because we come from the Channel Islands which do not have a reciprocal agreement with Greece, when we moved out here in May, we took out a policy with Interamerican. We did have a couple of quotes from other companies (the exp...

Re: ATMs probably silly questions

Hi, we have just moved here and I have my pension paid into an English bank. I started to open an account with Eurobank, and after a LOT of jumping through hoops, I was supposed to go and collect my debit card on the day the banks closed :) . When everything is sorted the intention is to transfer my...

Re: Dogs on Beaches

Thank you everyone. My dog (who is a rescue and have only had for a month) never goes out without a lead and of course I would clear up after her. The reason I was asking is that there is a beach nearby which was a Blue Flag last year with sunbeds ECT to rent. This year everything (including the Blu...

Dogs on Beaches

Hi, can't work out if dogs are not allowed on any beaches, or is it ok if it is not a "Blue Flag " beach or has a "No Dogs " sign There is an off the beaten track beach near us which is always deserted, but not sure if it's legal to take Peanut on it :) Thanks all. Louise. x
