They are not yet (as of yesterday) stamping UK passports on entry at Chania airport. This will be due to the fact that since my original post above, we have still not yet left the EU. The scanning of passports is a different issue in line with an EU law, for all European citizens travelling to/from ...

Bob, the shops are open on Sunday 21st April, the week before Easter.

I'll post all Easter shop hours for Crete on the calendar thread (strikes, disruptions, bank hols) when I get chance to find them (just seen the Athens ones earier)

Some areas have been registered for years. We bought a property in 2006 in the first listed Chania area on Midlanders' link and our house was already registered in the ktimatologio (property register) back then. Not everyone will need to register, some are already logged from years ago.
