Re: Help. Shotguns not allowed.

George, thank-you for your reply. You are right with your idea about hanging CDs with reflective surfaces, birds do not like them. The trouble is, nor do I. Even if I had a number of redundant CDs, which I don't, the aesthetic look of my beautiful arbor would be ruined. I did think of tying up screw...

Re: Help. Shotguns not allowed.

I have replied to this post twice and twice I have lost it. Third time lucky I hope. SatCure. Thanks for your help, but I am confused. Do you mean covering the entire rose and arbor with the polypropylene? That would cause solarization for the rose, which would kill it. Or do you mean covering the b...

Help. Shotguns not allowed.

This is my arbor. It is at the end of my little garden with the rose Marechal Neil over it. It is one of my favourite places to sit in the garden, especially in the summer, as the rose keeps it nice and shady below. Sometimes I sit there with a book and a cup of tea, sometimes just with a glass of w...

Good Old Lidls

Oh the joy of walking into Lidls in the autumn and finding the bulbs have arrived. Pouring over those brightly coloured packages, whilst my dear husband goes to do the boring shopping. Choosing some big, blowsy tulips. Going home and turfing everything out of the salad drawer in the fridge, to give ...

Re: Rats

Well, it is now a month since my husband bought 4 rat traps and a jar of crunchy peanut butter as bait for them. The first night we used them.....nothing. The second night, 2 dead rats! Since then, only one more dead rat. At this rate, considering that they often have litters of between 6 and 13, we...

DVD/CD player

The DVD/CD player on our computer has stopped working. When I put a disc in, it makes painful noises and will not play.
I think I need a new player, but I don't know what to look for.
Any ideas?
Daisy :)

Re: Rats

Altohb,thank-you for the information. I will get him indoors to sort the traps out, as I am a wimp, when it comes to rats. Louise. My memory is rubbish, especially for names. It was a very long time ago. What I remember most about my summer in Jersey, was, falling madly in love with an Italian waite...

Re: Rats

Warwick, all of our three cats came to us as abandoned tiny kittens. The last one was one of four siblings born in a neighbours garden. We took all four in when their mother left. Within a few weeks, three of those kittens died of poison. I think that it was nothing to do with rat bodies. Any rat bo...

Rats

When I was 18, I spent the summer on the island of Jersey. I had a job waitressing at a tourist's nightclub in St Ouens Bay. A couple of coachloads of tourists would come for dinner, dancing and a floor show. The floor show consisted of a scantily clad young lady fire-eating and dancing with a pair ...

Idle hands

I am very, very glad to see so much rain this month What a difference it will make to my garden this coming summer. But spending so much time inside is making me restless. Reading, watching television and internet searching is fine for a while, but then, I find some new roses I would like online and ...

Re: UK drivers licence renewal

I have just looked at the UK Gov website for renewing my UK driving licence at 70 and it says that you have to do it using your Government Gateway ID.
What the **** is that? Anybody know?
