Re: Did you feel that?

Why oh why did I have to be sitting on the loo when it happened? I was praying that the oil lamp on the windowsill above me, would not fall and cover me with lamp oil. Then I had visions of being dug out of the rubble with my pants down. Then, luckily it stopped. I was definitely more scared of bein...

Re: German response to today's request from Greece.

In the reporting from the BBC news, apparently, the German finance minister Wolfgang Schaeuble, is outraged at comments made by Yannis Varoufakis. This I find hard to believe. I have only heard Yannis Varoufakis in a couple of English language interviews, but he seems to be a rarity among politician...

Re: Holiday in Crete

Maud, never in a million years could I call Pachia Ammos a pretty village. It is not. I suppose, like some other villages in Crete, it gets it's charm from it's feeling of a 1950's time warp and its people. Mochlos on the other hand has charm in abundance. Not from it's architecture, or it's small s...

Re: Holiday in Crete

I agree with John, a holiday around the Bay of Mirabello would be a good idea. Elounda would be a good, flat base to explore from. This is the view from my dentist's waiting room in Elounda. https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3771/12633765094_c513a3ccbb_c.jpg february 2014 008 by Daisyincrete , on Flick...

I have just watched this interview and found the rudeness of the Newsnight reporter shameful.

drop down banners

Does anybody know if it is possible to get rid of a drop down banner, on a web page?
I am trying to look at pretty, summer dresses on line and a lot of the websites have these.
They are incredibly, really, annoying and it is impossible to view the page properly.
Thanks.

Re: Electricity

This is different. We have the usual blackouts now and then, but this is not a complete blackout. The electricity supply is there but is virtually useless. Thanks Kilkis. We will report it to DEH. The whole house was rewired 5 ago so, I hope it is not just our house. Loretta9 Thank-you for your nice...

Electricity

Is anyone else, experiencing fluctuating amperage in their electricity supply? For the past few weeks our's has sometimes dropped so low, that the lights become too dim to read by, the microwave is taking six times as long to heat anything, the computer and television are unusable and my beautiful C...

My favourite derestriction sign in the world, is the one as you leave Ramsey, heading towards Douglas. I remember overtaking a police car on that road at 125mph on my Honda CBR600. I glanced in the car as I passed. The two policemen were sitting there looking really bored. They were probably thinkin...

Years ago, I found that an aerobics class or mad, passionate sex would warm me up.
These days, either a deep, hot, bubbly bath or hugging the somba works.

Little joys

Yesterday was busy with pruning roses and moving plants in the garden. I became very sleepy in the early evening and went to bed. Consequently, I was awake very early. My husband was watching "Democracy Live" on the television. I couldn't take that at 4.30 in the morning, so I took my cup ...

Whenever I see a Lidl store in the U.K., I get homesick for Crete.
If only I could import Wadworths 6x, Melton Mowbray Pork Pies, my old Honda CBR600 and Brands Hatch to ride it around. :D :D :D
