Re: New Lockdown

The national lockdown has now been extended to Monday 7th December. No real surprise there. Thought I was going to be having a beer this weekend. Apparently not. Re: COVID-19 Vaccination

I don't think it will be compulsory in either the UK or Greece, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were restrictions placed on people who don't have an up to date vaccination certificate (or a certificate of negative testing, maybe), for instance getting on a plane, entering/leaving the country, a...

Re: Buyers mandate form ?

It sounds highly dubious, Oldduffa. I would walk away from any estate agent who demanded such a thing. I think it could land you in a heap of financial trouble. There are plenty of properties for sale and plenty of agents. Or, why not try https://www.green-acres.gr/en. No agent necessary - just a go...

Re: Requirements for part-time residents in Crete

If you and your husband are part-time residents, there is no requirement to obtain the new Biometric ID. If you are relying on your E111 for health care while you are in Crete, you might need to consider an alternative (travel insurance, perhaps?) after the end of this year, as it's an EU document a...

Re: New Lockdown

Authority to travel is the same scheme as the previous lockdown, i.e. an SMS message to 13033 or a written approval (Document B). Required as of 6am on Saturday 7th Nov.

New Lockdown

Re: How will the Schengen 90 days within 180 rule affect us?

What! You mean we can't have our cake and eat it? As I said, I think "loopholes" will emerge. I don't disagree. I've been stopped several times over the years and had to show my licence. So long as it's valid, the police have never seemed remotely interested where it was issued. The possi...

Re: How will the Schengen 90 days within 180 rule affect us?

... With regards to a driving licence, just get an international driving licence issued in the UK. I don't think that will work, Rick. If you claim to be resident in Greece you are required to have a Greek driving licence. One of the criteria for getting an international driving licence issued in t...

Re: How will the Schengen 90 days within 180 rule affect us?

My understanding. If you successfully convert your residence permits to the new biometric ID, you are claiming that you are permanently resident in Greece, which it looks like you are not. If you decide to go down that route, you will be able to access your property all year round, no problem. Schen...

Re: Mask or no mask

No widespread wearing of masks outdoors in Sitia this morning. About 10 - 15% of people wearing them and nobody giving anybody dirty looks. It seems that the outdoor rule is indeed restricted to Tier 3/4.
