Re: British hopes of summer holidays abroad quashed!

Yes, i have read 1st July from official sources. There is no set date for travellers from countries with high infection rates (e.g. UK) to be allowed to travel to Greece. International flights to Greece are set to resume on July 1st as stated by chrissyg, but the UK's inclusion in this will be kept...

Re: For anybody in a Greek village with no broadband.

I've got a micro-comb. It's all the comb I need, given the amount of hair I've got left.

Re: Allergy/Pollen Count

As a lifelong hay-fever sufferer, I can confirm that I have never known Crete to be this bad at this time of year. I almost literally cannot stop sneezing. Please excuse shaky handwriting ....

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

Apparently I am not the only one to be confused about masks: https://www.keeptalkinggreece.com/2020/05/02/greece-mask-mandatory-optional-coronavirus/ Thanks for that, Jean. I had no idea whether or not to take one into town tomorrow. I've made one out of a sock (couldn't bring myself to cut up my o...

Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

Even if a safe vaccine can be created in 18 months (I read recently that a world renowned expert in the field opined there may never be an effective vaccine) My understanding is that covid-19 is a coronavirus, as is the common cold. Scientists worldwide have been trying unsuccessfully for many deca...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

Anything that covers the mouth and nose should be OK. As far as I am aware it is any public inside space. For example a shop is a public inside space so you have to wear one. It would not matter if there wasn't a single other customer in the shop. Similarly for buses, taxis hairdressers etc. My bar...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

The Greek government has just announced that movement between midnight and 6am will be strictly limited (keep talking Greece). The cat burglars amongst us will just have to find something else to do in the wee small hours.

Thanks, Kookla - can't wait to be seen out and about in Sitia with an item of ladies intimate apparel strapped to my face. I rather think something black and lacy might suit me .... finally, things seem to be looking up!

Re: Greece Flight Ban Extended to 15 May 2020

Yes, not much difference in Crete. I had an email from Sky Express on April 6th, saying my flight from Athens to Heraklion the following day was cancelled (not that I'd have been on it anyway) and that a voucher would be forthcoming. Needless to say, no voucher has yet come forth. The strange thing ...

But the EU state they are considering closing all their boarders, so possibly no visitors from UK or within the EU. We shall have to wait and see. But best to be safe than sorry. Agreed. Opening hotels, restaurants and shops is only half the equation as far as the tourist industry is concerned. Boo...

Light at the end of the tunnel?

The Greek government seems to be planning to begin to lift restrictions from May 10th (assuming the figures allow it) with a proposed end date of July, subject to several ifs, buts and maybes. Probably best not to get our hopes up too much, but it's nice to be reminded that the emergency won't last ...

I am 57 years old no health problems. To late for r...
