Hi Cyprubeachchef Thought you might turn up and some point, can I go anywhere to escape you. A point of order, if I remember correctly, you actually stole the sink from the rear of my house. Not only that, it was one half of a matching pair of antique "whally" sinks. Now worth a fortune. Best of luc...

Hi Lynne So what is taking so long, why end 2008, why is hubby there on a jolly and you are back home in glorious sunny Glasgow. We need some detail here, don't you realize how fascinating other people's lives are. Let's face it, the intimate detail of your life's dream has got to better than bones....

Feeling Sad

Having a bad night. Liverpool lost to AC Milan, The house sale has now gone to a closing date (it's a Scottish thing and I will not bother to explain) so feeling very stressed, tonight's thread is all about bones and even I can't stoop to have a poke at that (I have not many but a few morals). Ken a...

Absolutely love it. So glad I asked the East / West question. The water thing is interesting but the passion roused when you press the right button is just fantastic. Great read, I have the East just ahead on points.

Now off to save a huge amount of water with friends. :D

Thanks guys

Thanks Fillipos, appreciate the links, the viamichelin site is fantastic. I had thought about getting a satnav purely for the drive but i am now not going to bother. Thanks Warrick. You are right, having never done the trip it may seem a bit dim but I now see the dogs will be with us all the time an...

Good Luck

We are not far behind, hopefully the house sells this week and we hope to be starting our new life in Crete by the end of August. Keep us posted on how it goes.

I keep picking up East/West undertones. Am I imagining things or is there some underlying hostility that everyone is just too (ex-pat Brit) polite to get out in the open. Go on ( I dare all) spill the beans. Trust me, living in the west of Scotland I can handle conflict, but it's nice to know the ba...

I suppose it is all a question of economics. We have quotes from Pickfords and Britania to ship our belongings to Crete, both in the region of 5K £. It seems a lot of money but we know there is no way we could buy our stuff again here in the uk for that amount never mind in Crete

Thanks filippos. I could do the Ancona route just as easy but in Carols' book (page 103 para.2) it clearly states that ANEK do not allow dogs into cabins which is the main reason I was going to book with Minoan Line. I just can't get that, how can you leave dogs in a car on the car deck for 20 hours...

Dogs on the ferry

Hi everyone Looking for a bit of experience from those that have. We are planning to drive to Crete with two dogs, using the Venice - Patras ferry route. Sorry if this is asking the obvious but if it is I am missing the detail somewhere. As I understand it the crossing takes approx. 20 hours, how do...
