Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

Yesterday in Kalyves we saw one or two people who we thought were holiday makers and were told today that advance holiday staff are arriving on the island which could explain what we saw. I know it’s my bug bear but whilst in my local small greengrocers the newcomers were neither observing social di...

Re: Theft of wood! Hidden CCTV cameras in our olive trees?

A very very similar thing happened to my husband two years ago, in Kalyves. Andrew’s wallet had fallen out of his short’s pocket and onto the floor. It was handed in by a local and kept behind the kafeneon’s bar. Incredibly we didn’t notice it missing for two days as we hadn’t left home since and wh...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

Apart from observing the rules which I consider extremely important, I am wearing my face mask out of respect to those around me. There have been no recorded cases of Covid 19 it is true but it does not mean that there are NO cases on the island. I also believe that we should begin to get into the h...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

I was inside the shop of the garden centre shoulder to shoulder with other people wearing neither face masks nor gloves. I had the same experience in the greengrocers I go to. The 2m rule was not observed and apart from the staff (in both places) not a mask in sight.

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

I visited Kalyves this morning, face mask and gloves donned, and was disappointed to see so many people, perhaps 75% of them, wearing no face mask amongst other people, nor inside whilst shopping! I fear it won’t be long before we are locked down again.

Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

Andrew, I think it is because on occasion we have heard people like Trump suggest that COVID 19 is just like the flu in an effort to minimise it.

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

I have been wearing a face mask and wearing latex gloves from the outset and they heat you up really fast. I do hope that the air conditioning will be on high in the food shops (etc.) as the weather warms up. I don’t intend to visit other shops and establishments for some time yet.

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

The wearing of face masks in enclosed and busy places will be compulsory from Monday, 4th May, when some lockdown restrictions will have been lifted. I think that face masks remain in short supply here hence several forum members posting very useful links on how to quite easily make your own, washab...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

Thank you for the link Kookla. The instructions look pretty straight forward and I think it’s worth making some washable ones now so that we will be ready.

Re: Mail

No joking, tomorrow I am sending my Dad’s care home 500 latex gloves. They are desperately low on PPE and my sisters who live near the home cannot get a single box.

Re: Mail

Yes, my Dad is in a care home in the UK and he is getting the letters and cards I am sending. Likewise, post is coming from the UK to us but perhaps not as quickly.
