Re: Cost of prescription medicines

Yes it used to be there but I think that the building is now occupied by the traffic warden police. I shall ask around and find out where it is now.

Re: Cost of prescription medicines

There was one in Souda but I think that it has moved. It is worth asking a local doctor where your nearest one is. They generally open for two mornings a week and there will be a doctor there plus a couple of people who provide hot drinks, tv etc. I understand that they also arrange day trips and lo...

Re: Cost of prescription medicines

I appreciate that I am late to this this thread but wish to add for future readers that my partner belongs to ΚΑΠΗ here which is a group for pensioners and gets a substantial discount on his regular prescriptions as a result. The yearly subscription is only a couple of Euros.

Re: Using car with non EU plates on Crete?

Someone I know recently brought his car over permanently from Scandinavia and he discovered it best to declare the fact immediately upon arrival as leaving it any longer causes issues, not insurmountable, but issues nonetheless.

Re: More Questions from the newbies

As already said, most things are gettable but at a price. Things like tea bags, baked beans, canned soups, oxo cubes, cream crackers are what I would bring over. When family come out to stay, teabags are what I ALWAYS asked for. If I pop over to the UK I always stock up on Birthday cards and other g...

Re: SEEKING BYZANTIUM DVD

Sometimes I am too hasty! I took another look and if I had cared to scroll down the first time !! I would have noticed that it is in English with Greek subtitles. So it's ordered!

Thank you peebee and for your kind offer. I had looked at this also but it seems to be in Greek? At least the cover is written in Greek. I will contact the seller :D

SEEKING BYZANTIUM DVD

This is perhaps a long shot but I am looking for a 1997 series on DVD, narrated by John Romer. The series is called BYZANTIUM THE LOST EMPIRE. Should any of you have it and can part with it, I would be very interested in purchasing it from you. This is for a 75th Birthday present.

Re: Heating Oil

I'm rather late to this post. Crikey, it's nearly Summer! Annabana asked about using olive waste, pirina and we were put off it by our Civil Engineer, who does use it. Whilst it used to be a cheap option compared to heating oil, he says the price is about the same now. He has to lift sacks every day...

Re: More Questions from the newbies

Ditto comments on Nomad by others. They packed and moved us out here and we've used them several times since. Last year, amongst other items, they packed up and brought out a crystal glass and decanter set we'd inherited - it all arrived in perfect condition. We too had a relatively trouble free lan...

Re: IKA & Marriage

Again, very many thanks, especially for the time you have taken to give a clear reply. I'll admit to not being able to see the wood for the trees on this. My partner will, as you suggest, contact the DWP Overseas Healthcare Team and I'll keep the forum up to date.
