Re: THE CUCURRENT BANKING CRISIS EXPLAINED BY AN IRISHMAN

It is a slow day in a little Greek Village. The rain is beating down and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit. On this particular day a rich German tourist is driving through the village, stops at the local hotel and lays a €100 note on the d...

Re: Capital Controls.

In March this year we went to renew our cash point cards at the Piraeus bank as they had expired. At first I thought the cashier had confused our request and thought we were applying for cards and not renew expired ones. She requested our tax return for 2014, our Greek electric bill and my UK Vodafo...

Re: Capital Controls.

Hi Brian

I don't think there have been any easing of restrictions on withdrawals. We have a joint account at the Piraeus bank and were able to withdraw 840 Euros, 420 each.

... 48 euros for the year that's value for money.  €48? That's extortionate, Cruc. I pay half that and I live here full time. I'm guessing from your location tag that you don't. Warwick No we live in the UK for our sins and only get out to Crete 4/5 times a year. We do have a poo...

Carolina

We paid our water bill at Kalives town hall offices two weeks ago and even paid the bill that's due out this week. 48 euros for the year that's value for money.

Amazon or not Amazon that is the question

We are going to be spending more time in Crete and would like to be able to watch British TV without installing a satellite dish. The TV we have is a smart TV and I have been advised that I can use an Amazon Fire stick rather than a IPTV box. The subscription for the IPTV box with over 100 channels ...

Re: Ship furniture or buy locally?

We looked for 2 weeks for furniture and found it was either dark and heavy or modern and very expensive with little choice, so, we decided to use Nomad to bring all our furniture out to Crete in 2015. We bought all new which was delivered to Nomad’s warehouse and never clapped eyes on it until it tu...

Cameron promised reform within the EU or " He would lead us out " :P :P He has not achieved any legal reform and is now back peddling :( :( . If we vote to stay I can just see what will happen. Merkel, Hollande and Tusk will say you had your chance to leave and chose not too. So now, just ...
