Better check your insurance as well because many companies in the UK limit it to 3 months at one time.
The journey over is expensive but if you take your time you can treat it as the start of the adjustment to 'Cretan time' :) and decompress on the way back :(

Why not find a lawyer in Corfu before you go? Ours talked to us for 15 minutes and then walked us to the tax office to complete the forms and took 1/2 hour to get our tax numbers ΑΦΜ. I don't think you need to do it in the prefecture you will be staying in, though might be better to t...

Thanks all, we have now confirmed we can use our exchange brokers to transfer the cash. Reminds me of before every holiday standing at the bank counter saying " so you don't issue foreign currency, you don't do bank drafts and you don't have 1000 pounds in cash and even if you did you wouldn't ...

Money Transfers

Given that the banks love to charge far too much for each transfer from UK to Greece and then limit the amount you can do in each transfer to maximise the payments  any ideas on how best to transfer large sums when buying land, stage building payments etc? We have thought of trying an HSBC inte...

The sign was also up on the kiosk in Kalyves. I'm sure the tavernas will display them prominently - probably next to the no smoking signs and the ashtrays. :) Ever seen the amount of discarded receipts outside a UK shop? Tax is paid in most/all countries because the tax authorities ensure it is too ...

Thanks all. Winxdvd seems to work fine for my use. Though DVDshrink sounds useful as 8Gb per film is a bit heavy.
Now just need to buy Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Life of Brian and the flight time will just fly [sic] by.

Can anyone explain why no one seems to cover their log piles? Maybe because it burns slower - with no heat, but slower :) I bet there will be a lot more fires due to unseasoned wood being used and chimneys becoming clogged before the winter is over as well. How many bare forest areas will be seen so...

Can't brag about the tablet its a Ployer Mono 11. Got the best reviews of the Chinese clones and couldn't justify a IPad and wanted a 10" screen so Kindle Fire was ruled out. I must admit it feels a bit like when I was doing beta testing for my company when they were introducing Windows - espec...

Ripping a DVD

Anyone ripped a DVD to their PC? Got a tablet for Xmas and want to put some films on a memory stick to play on it.
As usual the online advice has that much data that getting objective information is hard.

Penalties are exorbitant - as we found out once!! Moved to 10Gb package. Much like bank accounts if you want the best package and extra discounts you need to change your package every anniversary - makes me feel guilty about working in telecoms marketing for so long. Except for a fixed line everyone...
