Yes it was in the ambulance station, and the vehicle was off the road because of this defect. Very few companies actually own their fleet nowadays, they are nearly all on lease agreements. The lease companies dictate everything concerning repairs and servicing. We had a delivery van off the road for...

I work in 24hr recovery/roadside repair industry. I was sent from Edinburgh to Berwick upon Tweed to change a light bulb in an ambulance. The crew had the tools and the bulb in hand but are forbidden by contract to even attempt a repair. A famous national delivery company carries no spare wheels in ...

I did work with a nationalised industry until made redundant; not BT though. I agree that policies were more polar, but isn't that better than the middle ground spineless morons we have in unlimited soundbites today? If you went to listen to Mick McGahey, you listened to a man with passion and ideals...

I would never describe the gas board or BT as profligate companies. Institutions such as these were owned by the public, the people they serve - not some shareholders. The railways are still in a mess because some people can't see that a public service is not about making profits. We have imported c...

We have to lump her in with Blair as sending us to war for no reason whatsoever apart from the fact she was the most unpopular politician ever at the time. Nothing quite like rallying the troops as unleashing the dogs of war because Argentina's junta was deeply unpopular. Previous governments, both ...

I would love to say I was appalled by this, but it just seems like another in a long line of banking/political corruption that seems to be never ending. Coupled with no politicians of any merit, never mind answers, it can be of no surprise that the voters in Greece, Italy and now Germany are turning...

From today's Ekathimerini; A Greek lender is set to take over the assets and liabilities of the Cypriot banks but any deal is dependent on the Parliament in Nicosia approving a deposit tax. Have to agree with much of what has been said here, when Cameron and co came into power one of the first actio...

A good site for football is firstrow1.eu. They still have the ads at the start for 30 seconds. After you have closed the ads, switch to full screen mode which then blocks the ads out. They seem to cover rugby, boxing, golf etc although I have never tried these.

Rent per annum £2400
Food (1 chicken a day for example) £2184

That leaves over £3000 per year which seems entirely feasible to me. I'm not looking to live the high life, just what for me would be the good life.
we wouldn't eat seven chickens a week, but it serves it's purpose as an example.

Getting back to the original thread, my wife and I had estimated an annual cost of around 8 thousand pounds for a year in Crete. This is to include rent and food etc. We worked this out by looking at long term rentals, then using what we spend on holiday as a guide. Obviously on holiday we eat out a...

I used google translate and then the babel fish translator which is why I got two differing answers. I have heard of the expression "may they live for you", and it's derivatives but never thought that this was what it was.
