Re: The Will of the People

Europe is in a mess and the UK will be in more of a mess outside the EU than in it are not mutually inconsistent arguments.

Re: The Will of the People

One reason for the higher investment in the UK is because the £ is weak so assets are cheap relative to their equivalent assets in other countries - Economics 101. This will be obvious to anyone with income in £ who is spending on goods in € in Crete. Re the £100 million spent on ferries in case of ...

Re: The Will of the People

A pause is quite tempting but..... There is no easy way out of the current position: No deal risks chaos, v large fall in living standards, motorways used as car parks etc. People’s vote risks ignoring the June ‘16 vote and the 17 million who voted to leave - and real risk of civil disturbance Gener...

Re: Gatwick Chaos

The cheapest way to get here in December school hols. Costs more than the Easter and Summer trips combined. The man next to be at Gatwick was flying London-Oslo-Malaga. Mad.

Re: Gatwick Chaos

Wel, of course in the end we breezed through Gatwick to Oslo and on to Chania without a problem. Don’t need to drone on abut airport delays. Ho ho ho. Happy Christmas.

PS Clio, I love Marrakech. Did you go over the Atlas Mountains to Taroudant, or west to Essaouira? Both worth a visit.

Re: Gatwick Chaos

It just adds to the chaos that is this country. We were due to fly to Crete from Gatwick on Saturday. It’s not going to happen. Thry’ll Need to guard the person who did it if they catch him - he risks being torn limb from limb by the public.

Re: The Will of the People

The funny thing is that discussing pet passports is the level of detail they had to go down to. The amount of unproductive time spent on this is unbelievable.

I’m sure this was one of the first topics for discussion when David Davies met Michel Barnier.

Re: The Will of the People

The pet thing is funny - I just can imagine the hassle of taking a pet overseas - it’s hard enough with children.

Re: The Will of the People

Warwick
OK Bob, to address GuyM's total assumption that I want to carry on living in Crete. That is totally incorrect so the rest of the post means nothing, I don't think we even know each other.
Thank you. That is the answer to my question: How So? It seems logical to me that if you ...

Re: The Will of the People

Phil......I was just attempting to be polite and not sound too biased! Quite correct Jeff. I am off to hibernate now, and hope everything is resolved by the time I crawl out from under my stone in May! - Did I say May? At least we know that one will still be around in five months time! Nothing is c...

Re: The Will of the People

None of it makes any sense at all ....no one wins in any Brexit debate ...we all lose . I agree. We are trying to answer the wrong question. It’s not ‘do we stay in the EU or do we leave’. Rather it’s ‘what are we going to do about inequality and absolute poverty?’ Neither staying or going is neces...

Re: How do I catch a bus? Or taxi?

Hi For longer taxi journeys we use Taxi4crete.gr Website: https://taxi4crete.Gr/ For shorter ones, I am sure Kostas (who runs taxi4crete) can advise. He is pukka. We have used buses for long trips eg Chania to Vryses, Vryses to Heraklion. They are coaches rather than buses, clean, air conditioned an...

Re: The Will of the People

There’s something i’m missing here: a UK citizen wants the U.K. to leave the EU, but wants to carry on living in Crete, which is part of the EU. So, there’s an objection to U.K. being governed (in part) by EU rules, but it’s ok for the individual lo be governed by EU rules. How so?

Re: Great Overland Trip to the UK

Yes I was thinking about the direct route, possibly avoiding Serbia which is easily done.

On the visa stuff, I guess this might be harder after Brexit and there may be more paperwork with a car.
