Re: Predictions for 2019 include a Hard Brexit

I think he's a chicken! All very well being a loud mouth, critical person etc.. but being a PM and actually having to plan, do deals with everyone, try to represent the country whatever, is maybe a job too far for him and he knows if he was put in that position it would be beyond him????

Re: Chimney sweep

Do you have the vacuum as well? I think some of the chimneys George tackles are not that straightforward eg years of being blocked by bird's nests and goodness knows what. Would you be happy climbing about on rooves and unblocking from the top down? Maybe a new career but nothing is easy here :)

Re: Update from HMG

I think it's a Friday afternoon document! I know about the 29th meeting as it's been advertised by Apokoronas Our Home but not sure it's a definite yet?

Re: Update from HMG

Thanks for that Tim. Obviously HMG are a bit ignorant about how things work in Greece eg automatic right to a Greek EHIC card if you move to Greece.

Re: Still in Limbo

"it will help by safeguarding reciprocal healthcare if there is no EU deal."
From first link
So it appears if there is no deal, there has to be a separate deal about this deal???? And if the EU agree to to the new deal of course...... Great!

Re: Still in Limbo

Hi Caroline, yes correct! Because of the increase in the state pension age, there are quite a lot of us in limbo land.

Re: Still in Limbo

Nb even if you pay all your tax in Greece, you are still not entitled to Greek healthcare (and you are not old enough for reciprocal healthcare) . So in effect you are funding other people's healthcare and might have to pay privately for your own healthcare. Just a thought.... In limbo land again.

Re: How to become a greek resident

At Vrysses we were only asked for photos, EHIC, tax numbers, deeds to land, beige card. No tax return or bills. Very quick and efficient!

Re: Why Brexit is Right

Is the AMKA number Greek healthcare ie reciprocal with UK? How would this work with a no deal situation? Surely you would have to be entitled to Greek healthcare as a result of working in Greece. So for many people it's sadly still not an option if they rely on the reciprocal health agreement. Or ha...

Re: Why Brexit is Right

Yes, I think you are correct Warwick. With the Golden Visa (buying a property over 250000 euros) you can become a permanent resident after 7 years and stay in Greece as long as you like but without healthcare! So if there is a hard Brexit, there doesn't appear to be a solution.
