Re: Why Brexit is Right

I was referring to your assumption that I thought the EU was the best thing since the second coming of Christ.... A definite no to that. And no, I don't like the way a lot of things are done in the EU but there are positives as well.

Re: Why Brexit is Right

A big no to that! What an assumption??? However, I think the future is better being part of the EU for many reasons. We have personally done battle with a totally inept EU department while we have been living here so I have seen first hand how useless they can be. But, the UK has failed to implement...

Re: Why Brexit is Right

I agree Maud. That's why I am puzzled and asked the question.

Re: Why Brexit is Right

A question for Brexit voters and supporters living in Crete, IF there is a hard Brexit (and I know this is still a big if), would you be happy to leave Crete and return to the UK? I assume you would want a hard Brexit to be free from the EU.

Re: Why Brexit is Right

Spot on Maud. We could all become "illegal immigrants" after March and not have a choice about where we live anyway.

Re: When are small fires allowed again?

I believe that legal fires are permitted between November 1st and April 30th. However, due to the very dry winters, the time was shortened to the day after Easter Monday this year in Apokoronas. Not sure if it was the whole of Chania region?

Re: Buying a car

There are ways around it as some holiday makers buy cars even though they only visit a couple of times a year and for short periods. I think there is a document you take to the KEP office along with your passport. Supercars in Chania could advise on this and maybe his accountant. To have a temporary...

Re: Medical Insurance

As I have to pay income tax on my pension in the UK and we also have a house in the UK I am not going to pay for Health Insurance in Greece, especially as the hospital and police have been happy to accept the EHIC card so far. Of course, if the goal posts hadn't been moved for the state pension, I c...

Re: Medical Insurance

I've just applied for my permanent resident card at Vrysses Police Station and the EHIC card was accepted as proof of healthcare as it is for temporary resident cards. I had a major operation on my EHIC card a couple of years ago and I know a couple of people who have had heart operations on their c...

Re: Flights

But after a general election, and you don't like the party who has got in do you then say I want another vote. Yes, you get another chance to vote for your party in a general election a few years later - did I not make that clear above? This is why it's even more important to have another vote for ...

Re: Flights

[quote="evansmr1"]I am sick of reading, in this forum, that the majority of contributors seem to think that those of US who voted for exit from the corrupt EU club did not know what we were voting for. I believe that those of you (who seem to be a majority in Crete) did not understand the ...

Thanks for that, Tim. That's the best laugh I have had in a long time. I can't stop giggling.
