Perhaps it's passenger handling that's reached capacity during summer rather than number of aircraft that can land and take off. What's there now? Two antiquated baggage carousels in a small hall? Imagine the chaos with even four flights per hour. How many check-in desks? How many baggage check-in ...

When we had to use it in August last year it was like Heraklion - in fact the queues were longer as there seemed to be less check-in desks and x-ray machines, so in those respects it was worse.
Our Greek neighbours have used that route recently and told us to avoid at all costs. They are pretty seasoned travellers and their advice is usually spot on.
Not sure where "Im indoors" went, From Rethymno/Agia Galini interchange all the way on Ethniki to Moires turn-off, with no diversion, honest. (Believe me if he'd had to go round the houses like last time, I'd have heard all about it, like last time...) Maybe there were on/off windows and ...
Already lifted. 'Im Indoors travelled to Heraklion and back this morning and traffic was able to continue along the ethniki, albeit slowly. Not sure where "Im indoors" went, but we went on that route Friday night and twice on Saturday - the National Road was still closed travelling West, ...
If you hand in your number plates before you leave Greece, I find it very hard to believe that the Italian, German, Belgian or French police would accept a car being driven on their roads with no plates. More likely that you would get a fine and the car impounded. If you do it in reverse, the UK aut...
We always used HIFX, much the same as XE.com and Moneycorps. All are excellent, and even refund fees charged by other banks along the way if such a thing happens as sometimes it does. No hassle, best rates. At all costs avoid banks of which RBS is the worst in my experience. "Unless of course ...

Paul
That's exactly the reason why they require the paper part of your licence when hiring a car - the photo card has no info on it regarding driving offences/penalty points
Interesting Steve that you use the identical route across Europe (including Luxembourg and Pirmasens) as we do, apart from us using Venice. The Hull route sounds good, will look into it next time. I would disagree about the Vignette in Austria though - it is compulsory for driving on any A and S roa...
I have never driven into the Makro site but have driven past it several times going to the hospital. A couple of questions, Bob: 1 Do you mean filter right at the first set of traffic lights half way up the hill by the church or the second set after you have gone over the top of the hill? It looks ...
From Rethymno direction, the turn off on the National Road is signposted "IKA"
Turn right and as Jet says, after the second set of lights its again signposted IKA - a very narrow road, follow it past the IKA car parks and eventually you will come to Makro
The fact that warm air rises is not really an argument as no matter what heating system you use the warm air will rise, Except that it's much more effective if rising from at, or close to, the floor rather than heating the air a couple of feet above your head. Any heat produced rises past anyone in...
