Thanks for all the suggestions. I've heard horror stories of CillitBang so am not keen on using that, think I'll try vinegar to start. Failing that the kettle descaler seems a good idea. Our plumber recommended 'Sizzle' (cost €19), but fortunately the instructions were in English and one caution was...

Help! Cleaning limescale from acrylic bath

Does anyone know of a product available in Greece I can use to clean the build up of limescale on the base of my acrylic bath without destroying the surface please?

OK, no rush, just when you have time. I don't think combine option is duplicating, but have only run it once so far. The synchronise option was doing that, so I opted for the former. The ghosted image would be run on this computer, or better still never! It's only to be in the event of disaster. Tha...

I've been playing with SyncToy and have been using the Combine option which seems to work so far.
Is there an easy way to find and save all the Windows Updates including service packs 1 and 2 to the new drive please?

There is a lot here to answer, but thanks for all the advice. I do have Paragon Drive backup as well, think that came courtesy of ComputerActive, and am wondering if this would be more user friendly. Failing that should I buy a copy of Norton Ghost to make life easier all round? The manual of True A...

Backing up computer

Having successfully partitioned my new hard drive, I now need some more expert guidance to back up the contents of my internal disk to one of these new partitions.
I have the following programmes - Acronis True Image 9.0 and Paragon Drive Back Up 8 special edition.

It's 'be3 πepeΒoAa' apparently - that's as close as I can get without the proper alphabet installed.
Thanks!

partitioning an external HD

:D It was all very simple to do, following all the instructions of course, and I now have 2 shiny new partitions. Have sent some pictures over to the allocated partition and all is well so far. Can't thank you enough for all the help, as always it is simple if only you know how. Next comes the backi...

I have Acronis True Image 9.0, so imagine that would do the job, once I can get to grips with 72 pages of instructions! Do you still think I should go ahead with the partitioning as per your earlier instructions into 4 equal parts? Sorry to be such a pain on this but I do want to get it right. By th...

I do actually want to put the operating system on one of the partitions, thus avoiding having all the updates to do again in the event of a disaster.
Can this be done simply without the 'ghost' you mention or do I have to buy a programme to do it?

Have not followed your instructions yet as I have been busy, and am a little worried by the following when I click the folder System Volume information on the ext. HD - 'is not accessible' and 'access is denied'.

partinioning an external HD

Have copied the support info to My Docs. What does 'data and power' mean? I looked at the disk info but have not unplugged and replugged the HD yet. Should I do that? At the moment it says on left - Disk 1 Basic 232.88GB online On right it says FreeAgent drive (E:) 232.88GB NTFS Healthy 4 partitions...

partitioning an external HD

Hello Paul, I think it would be easier all round if I post directly, rather than go through my friend Eleni13. Thanks everyone for all the previous help, much appreciated! I am running XP Home, the new HD has had nothing done to it other than plugging it in and trying a few 'send to' items to see if...
