Thanks so much YandY and Warwick - very helpful. I was rather hoping the UK might free Crete from their restrictions before I fly to Heraklion (onwards to Palekastro, Sitia) on October 11. Looks like I am going to have a huge shop for booze and food before we go to keep us going during quarantine !

Does anyone know if updated virus stats for Crete are published anywhere ? I know there aren't many crystal balls around but what is the likelihood of Crete being taken off the UK quarantine list any time soon ? Grateful for views/information.

This thread has gone way past its sell by date, Please, Carolina, put it out of its misery. It is embarrassing the previously good reputation of this forum.

What is going on here ? It is turning into a childish squabble on what was a sensible, informative forum. Anyway, since when was 'liberal leftie" an insult. I should think a number of people on here - including me - would fit in that category and, like me, be proud of it.

Fingers crossed that we can make our annual trip to Palekastro in mid-October. Driving from Palekastro to Zakros and Xerocambos is so beautiful, with the occasional detour to Kato Zakros. We were married in Palekastro so will always be tied to the Far East !

Dear Carol and Steve - sorry about your predicament. Also, sorry if I am being dim but could not one of you return to Crete and bring your pet back with you. I suspect there might be a good reason why not, but just wondered.

Wow, people worrying about travelling on July 1 !!!! I'm worrying about whether we will be able to travel to Crete from the UK on October 13.

Saddler and OurManinChania have degraded and sullied this excellent Forum. Surely, Caroline, there is enough evidence to cull them ?
