Re: Tavernas set to open 25th May!

... ... before the tourists arrive & bring the second wave of infections with them ... I don't hear much about events in the UK as we dispensed with TV in 2002 when we settled here but I do read bits in online newspapers (those that don't have paywalls). From what I have read it seems that abou...

Re: The Lotus Eaters

Maud, what a super idea. I second it! Bob, you must try to upload your presentation somehow. I can quite see how it would have appealed to the locals. Forget the idea of uploading the presentation. Bob should resurrect this original and take it on tour round the island (once travel restrictions are...

Re: Tavernas set to open 25th May!

Good news indeed. I wonder how they found out that May 25 is our wedding anniversary. Mind you, I doubt there'll be a table available anywhere.

Re: Carpal Tunnel Surgery

Warwick mentioned Mr Dimitriadis in his response above and both my wife and I have consulted him (and been treated by him) and found him very thorough. I first saw him about four of five years ago with a problem knee that originated with a sports injury about 50 years ago. Treatment for that was inj...

Re: The Lotus Eaters

I loved the Lotus Eaters when I watched it on TV all those years ago and again a couple of years ago when a friend loaned us a box set of both series. The recent viewing left me a little disappointed. The same friend also loaned us her set of Who Pays the Ferryman which was also very enjoyable. Abou...

Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

... ... The government determines what resources individual NHS Trusts have. If trusts do not have the capacity to admit care home residents who are seriously ill with COVID-19 that is the government's responsibility not the trusts. To lie and say it isn't happening only compounds their culpability...

Re: Britons urged to travel to Greece this summer

If the UK was a company and the government was the board of directors then I think care home deaths would present a compelling case for corporate manslaughter charges. .......... ............... People are dying of COVID-19 today in care homes. The disease has past the peak. The NHS was not overwhe...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

I've read several reports, in supposedly reliable sources of information, about the numbers of death to infection ratio and the methods of collection. There seems to be little agreement about the figures. Many of the reports are contradictory mainly in the deaths numbers. According to which report o...

Re: Coronavirus, what happens next

And once the confusion over quarantine when returning to the UK is cleared up, even less likely. I say confusion because the original 'trailer' (i.e. leak) for this measure covered ferries and trains. Since then it has been treated by the majority of reports as 'flights' only, (with the exemptions ...

Re: New motorbike registration

If it's a new bike I'm surprised the dealer didn't get it registered/taxed. On the two occasions I've bought a new car here (different makes/dealers) the dealers did all that. Both wanted the relevant fees paid in cash.

Re: London to Crete by train & ferry

If I remember rightly (I last looked at seat 61 about 12 or more years ago) London to Athens can be done in a little less than 48 hrs. London to Paris (Gare du Nord), short trip across town to get the overnight sleeper to (I think) Bari for the ferry to Patra and, back then, it was a coach ride to P...

Re: Otolaryngologist (ENT)

In the link you provided at 23:49 yesterday (which doesn't work unless modified as some smartarse did when quoting you). The capital 'L' was used to avoid confusion with a capital 'I' as the 'L' appears in some fonts.

I think you have big blue's fat finger problem with a misplaced 'L'. Tut!
