Re: UK N.I. NO's

... ... This has nothing to do with Brexit, as I know of French and Belgian nationals who have also been asked to fill in the declaration. ... ... As I posted earlier my bank in Switzerland pestered me for about three years, refusing to accept that I could be tax resident in the UK while living per...

Re: Theft of wood! Hidden CCTV cameras in our olive trees?

Those look wrecked not just cut; many look to have been torn apart. Those I lopped were showing plenty of new growth less than 10 months later and after two years needed the new growth to be pruned quite drastically to direct the 'food' to three or four selected branches that remained. After 5 years...

... ... found two totally destroyed !! Cut right down to the stumps with very little chance of recovery !!!' You obviously know little about olive trees! Bob. When we had olives two of our trees looked to be on their last legs. As we lived less than 50m from the olive oil factory I went and asked t...

Re: UK N.I. NO's

I was pestered for three years by a Swiss bank a) about where I am tax resident (they insisted it must be Greece as that's where I live) and b) the need for providing tax reference numbers. Every time they sent me yet another copy of the relevant form, partially completed, I refused to sign it as th...

Re: Theft of wood! Hidden CCTV cameras in our olive trees?

I think you set the general tone for many subsequent comments yourself at a fairly early stage after a couple of posts about the inherent honesty of most Cretans. For example: I've done the camera trick several times. ... ... About four hours later ... ... I panicked momentarily then remembered I'd ...

Re: Solicitor

Thanks to you both will make contact. :D If you decide to go to Kostas it can be slightly confusing to find his office despite the helpful location map on the website. The Feidias building is behind a café (in normal times usually busy) on the street. You need to go through the alley in the middle ...

...Don't like them? Cut a ripe one in half, remove the stone, put a teaspoon of brown sugar in each 'depression' and top-up with Metaxa. Then eat with a spoon! Delicious. Bob That does raise a serious philosophical question, Bob. If you eat them like that for breakfast would that class as "dri...

Nikolantonakis was recommended to us in 1998 and we're his clients to this day. Excellent lawyer, versatile, excellent/perfect English and 'all round good bloke' in my opinion.

Re: Theft of wood! Hidden CCTV cameras in our olive trees?

Paul, in your post above at 12.07 quoting OMiC you first quoted my original post followed by OMiC's response. Unfortunately you ran the two quotes together so it appeared as a single quote that makes it look as though the disparaging comments about McGinty's customers were mine so I've clarified it ...

...The (moderately expensive) camera was still there, in full view on the driver's seat. I think Filippos' notion of "moderately expensive" is very different from mine. ....... That was back then Warwick, a film SLR. I can't remember what it cost but it was certainly (well?) under £500 so...

Re: Theft of wood! Hidden CCTV cameras in our olive trees?

I've done the camera trick several times. The first was during our second holiday in Crete (1996) and our first in Kalyves. We parked in the area behind Mythos and wandered off for a look round, stopped off for coffee then decided to have lunch. About four hours later as we were heading back to the ...
