Re: Bathrooms - any recommendations

If Warwick is right about your location Zilimbilaki's bathroom shop (Επιλογι) in Kalyves, opposite the petrol station as you head for the Ethniki on the road from Kalyves to Armenoi, about 250m from the laundry. They'll probably be able to recommend a reliable builder. There's a builder turned resta...

No, that's the Raki effect.

Re: Scrapping a car in Greece

We scrapped our car in December 2015. I don't remember the exact procedure but there was official documentation needed. We were given the details of a Xania recycling company and, essentially, they did everything we needed. Prepared documents so all I had to do was sign on the dotted line and wave g...

Why's that Jeff? I have an EHIC card and no UK address. Maybe it's because I receive a UK State Pension?

Re: slow ote internet today

The further you are from the exchange the slower it's liable to be and length of the final copper connection and the condition of the wiring and connections. Are you in an area where there are lots of users who might all be connecting at similar times.

Re: slow ote internet today

I have OTE VDSL for "up to" 50 Mbps. Just ran a test: Ping 23 Download 45.75Mbps Upload 4.45Mbps which is around the norm I get.
BUT I'm lucky enough to be within 120m of the exchange with a connection box at the end of the road about 30m away.

You can only delete your post completely if nobody has posted after yours. There's then an X at top tight. Click that and a dialogue box appears asking you to confirm the deletion.

That suggests yours was hand-drawn, signed, stamped and photocopied. Computer generated, as Warwick's, it's likely print two, sign and stamp both.

Re: ingrown toenails

They use podiatrists rather than pedicurists. If I want my toenails sorted I visit a chiropodist. If I have structural / mechanical problems with my feet I go to a podiatrist. Visiting the latter was a not uncommon requirement in the long ago when I was running around 80 miles weekly training for m...

Try asking at the local KEP office what is the correct procedure.

Re: ingrown toenails

I'd have thought that for ingrowing toenails the obvious place to go would be a pedicurist or, even better, a chiropodist.

I have been burning a small fire on the beach ......... When do fires become legal? Not sure either way about fires on the beach being legal at anytime. Other fires, I thing are illegal until end of October (or may have been end Sept). Not quite on the beach old boy but more above the shoreline and...

Re: Winter Flights

Remember it's not only sun in winter. There are many ski resorts in Europe. Carcassonne, for example has more than 40 ski resorts nearby. As for the number of UK expatriates in Crete this has been discussed on here previously. I can't remember the numbers now but not all who live here travel often t...

There are no carriers with direct flights during winter. If you want to use a single airline Crete/UK it's Aegean via Athens
