Paul will probably know for certain but I think Adobe plugged the security hole(s). The main reason for v. 8 was to make it "Vista Ready". I downloaded and installed v.8 and found it didn't work well with some of my programs (some of my graphics and photo packages have excellent tutorials ...

Essentially, if you wish not to be taxed at source on income arising in the UK you have to request it. Arrangements are in place at government level between Greece/UK that if you pay tax in one country you don't in the other. If you own property, buy a car or have otherwise acquired a tax number her...

Maybe I'm not very good at following instructions but that seems much more complicated and error prone than clicking a button on your links toolbar, two clicks on the tinyURL site and paste into your post especially if it's a very long URL. How long was the one that started this debate? - 160. The t...

In the last UK budget didn't Brown reduce the basic rate by 2p/£ and abolish the 10% rate? When does/did that take effect?

Dave, have you installed the new Windows Vista or do you use the Windows firewall (I don't as I use Zone Alarm but I once turned it on by accident and that caused one or two problems)? If "Yes" it might be worth taking a look at the last Q & A in this newspaper item. http://preview.tin...

Our accountant advised us the same as Debla's (maybe it's the same accountant) but he calculated what tax we would pay in Greece and compared that with the amount in tax that we actually pay in the UK. Switching to Greek tax would have cost us about €350 to €400 p.a.

I think most hire cars these days are less than three years old.

PS The above comment relates to tests not triangle, extinguisher & first aid kit.

A year after our car was due for it's first test (about two years ago) we went to a local KEP office to find out about the procedure and location of the nearest (only one at the time?) testing station in the area. They produced a list of registration numbers alongside which were dates when test were...

... ... but if it were malicious then whoever constructed the tiny URL would not craft it using the preview option. They would want us to click on it and wham there it was in your face. I'm no expert in such matters but couldn't the malicious poster simple include in a post an innocuous looking URL...

The problem comes Philip when the over excited guests, fuelled with plenty of liquid, loose off a shot not into the evening sky but into the party of guests. I know there have been many accidents including fatal ones. Some people managed to do so much damage with the traditional plate smashing that...

A quiet evening.

I’ve been in the company of Cretans with guns on several occasions; at an Easter celebration where a friend emerged from his house and fired several volleys of shots in the air out of sheer exuberance; in a cafe during Greece’s matches in the final stages of Euro 2004 when, as the final whistle blew...

I'd recommend buying one as close to home as possible. Many shops selling sombas don't deliver or charge for delivery. I'm sure one of your neighbours could point you in the right direction locally. Depending on the size of stove you could, of course, load one into your car if it's big enough (the c...
