and maybe by the time I move I'll be able to have a conversation with a 4 year old. I can just about manage that at a very basic level after four years of lessons. One of the problems is that once you know the Greek you then have to cope with the Cretan dialect and different vocabulary but it comes...

I think I must have missed that. What's the problem?

I was recommended, if it's anything to do with pain, to try acupuncture. Didn't work for me. One nasty side effect of the "treatment" is that when it's warm and sunny I now leak profusely.

"ας" endings are masculine (Ο/ο) (there are probably a few exceptions). One common word with an "ος" ending that's an exception is "όδος" which is feminine (Η/η). Islands with names ending in "ος...

Another argument for buying new when is that the new printer will be supplied with cartridges for not much more than the cost of replacement (branded) ones. Add the facts that you'll get the latest technology and a new warranty and, to me, it doesn't make sense to bring old machines with you. Filipp...

My sentiments, too, but bear in mind that this could easily start a vendetta. Greeks have extended families so you'd be heavily outnumbered. Most also own guns.

There was quite a lot of discussion here about TEFL recently. If you put TEFL into the search (see top of page) it will list the threads where it is mentioned. Don't worry about not having a degree: Greece doesn't recognise foreign qualifications. Even Greeks with degrees from foreign universities h...

I know I'll be corrected if I'm wrong but I believe that it is actually illegal to take a dog on the beach in the summer. I'm not sure if that applies to all beaches but many "tourist" beaches have notices warning that dogs are not allowed. The only people I've ever seen taking dogs on bea...

Take a look at these two websites. If you can get a 'phone number for the area you plan to move to you can find out immediately if DSL is available there. Just enter a local number into the availability search box on the sites. http://www.forthnet.gr/templates/corporateProductsDetails2.aspx?c=100077...

Myzithra ... ... ... . A lot of people believe it is healthier than Feta ... ... ... it is probably a bit lower in fat ... ... I may be wrong but I think it's also quite a bit lower in salt content. Unlike you, I'm very fond of strong cheeses but I do like myzithra, too. I think that, like cheddar ...

Have things changed, Paul or do you not have a really local police station. Souda police station is the main station for the whole of Akrotiri. That answers that, then. Thanks Carol. I still think that in most places here a car is pretty much essential. Less of a problem if one lives in, or very cl...
