Be a devil, John (or a bigger one than usual) - name names.

Kalimera, BB (and everyone else).

Ishall05, after a night and day of steady rain it's been two reasonable days -warm, bit of cloud and this a.m. it's about 31C in the sun. Summer is nearly here.

It's just that John likes to stir up a bit of controversy. What me? Never! I am just misunderstood! What, John? You? Misunderstood? Not by most of us. ... ... and, so that I was not seen to be contradicting Filippos, And just when did not contradicting start? Would I ever post anything detrimental ...

Patra to Pireas is a pretty easy drive on a good standard road (motorway for most of the way). It took us about half an hour to clear the port and town and a drive of about two hours until we hit the traffic approaching Pireas which took about another half an hour to negotiate. The motorway is a tol...

It's just that John likes to stir up a bit of controversy. I think he started the East/West argument on another forum a couple of years ago and likes to perpetuate the joke. He's not a bad bloke, really, and will probably now post that he's a terrible man and means every detrimental word he's ever p...

... ... there is no way we could buy our stuff again here in the uk for that amount never mind in Crete Andy (My italics) You seem to be implying that Crete is expensive. In our experience, for similar quality, most things are cheaper, or about the same price, here. I agree, though, that you'd be h...

Hudson wrote:Don't forget that the water for agriculture is not the same as that which comes out of the taps in the towns. Well, at least they say it isn't.
But doesn't it all come from the same sources with just a difference in treatment?

[I wonder why you think it could be a different story in the east? (I cannot speak for the south) Statistically, the East gets a bit less rain than the west and, as you say, John there's not so much snow. I think the south is even drier. The majority of the new building developments are in the west...

I don't know about 'not much' here in Agia Marina it's chucking it down, with more rain forecast for tomorrow I spent the day strapped to a hortokoptiko and although it rained it was never more than a few spots - not enough to stop me working, unfortunately. It's raining a bit harder now but still ...

That could depend on where you are. Broadly speaking the west has more water than elsewhere which may explain why it's the greenest part of the island. Most of the Greek people I know in our area seem to think there won't be any real problem. Certainly, at least one of our neighbours still hoses all...

I'm no expert either and you may be right on that Ken but there are other factors to take into account as well. There's a cost factor. If you have a PC a laptop with equivalent performance will be more expensive. If you need to add an extra hard drive on a laptop you'll need to buy an external one w...

Andy, I'm sure Carol will be right and sorry if I misled you (maybe regs have changed; maybe it was a senior moment). Despite age and memory loss, I know that I've read somewhere that the company is animal friendly. If not allowing dogs into cabins I'm pretty sure they have kennels and allow owners ...

Not sure about the Venice route but I've been told that Anek ferries from Ancona to Patra and Pireas to Crete are very "dog friendly", allowing dogs into cabins, etc. Unfortunately, so far as I know, Anek do not sail to/from Venice.
