Judging from my experience in the UK our health service will intersect the Greek health service as ours goes downd an theirs goes up.

I am very sure as Greece gains in GDP it's health sevice will as well.

Yes I remember the damp from those in our first flat, I was being sold the line recently that the heaters have moved on in time and cut out a lot of the moisture produced. There going too keep coming these questions. House Insurance? Anyone know the cost of that? Do you trust the local health servic...

Anyone who has a reasonable knowledge of computer networks can hook up quite reasonable CCTV set ups to quite modest TV's. http://www.ebay.co.uk will have a goot number of mini units which can be hooked up either innocuously or quite overtly with the signs for CCTV. Apart from the drunks, nutters an...

Is there access to bottle Gas? Is it a means of cooking and/or heating in Crete. Watching a recent programme that included Corfu (I am familiar with Corfu as well) it would appear that a restaraunt focussed had access to some form of gas or other heating method not electricity. If there is access to...

Thank you for all your posts. Kilkis thank you for going into detail and for all of you taking you time. I'm sorry I hope I did not seem to foward or off-putting especially over my pension. One of the reasons it is so high is I am only some 25% of what I was. I'll leave your mind to boggle a bit on ...

Latsida, thank you for your reply. I'm very encouraged by your post as well. I don't think at 52 and age galloping on I can be bothered to try a couple of holdays, Mrs Muttly might get sent out on a fact finding tour as I am a bit crook and no good behind anything but a steering wheel. One of the do...

Hi, Ishall05, thanks once again. The UK and Greece have reciprocal tax argreements, if you pay tax in UK (Grrr) then you don't pay it in Greece. I'm pretty condident on that. Do you mean earnings of €900-1200 taxed? I have no illusions that Crete has changed and however I still have warm feelings fo...

Thank you for your swift reply. In the worst case scenario would my pension be enough to live on say for the whole two years of the rental do you think! I'm trying to cover every eventuality, boots and braces so to speak. The both of us have long discussed our options and we simply do not want to re...

Living costs etc.

I've been scanning you site for some time and it's a mine of information. Having visited Crete in the 70's and 80's I've now been retired out of my job and it's time at the early age of 52 to get up and go. I've no illusions and few prerequisites. I am married with two dogs and four cats we are desp...
