The miracle of turning water into wine has started ,,,,phew.. every year I prune my grapes, they all just look like dead sticks stuck in the ground, and then this happens .......click on the thumbnail for the full image ...

Yes, if you buy local stuff the food here is great, high quality fresh fruit and veg , great cheese and lovely goats milk...If you eat meat,( I have gone back to my old vegetarian ways ) buy local lamb and goat it's very high quality and the animals have had a life grazing in the hills..

Yep I agree, I use ACS a fair bit, the Sitia branch don't deliver out here, so they ring me if a parcel arrives and they hold it until I am going in to town.. The regular postal service is pretty good here as well, Stephenula the post lady delivers to the house, if we are out she leaves letters unde...

We find post going to the UK is quicker than post coming from the UK . I've never worked out why ...But we have had letters come via Germany ! That seems a bit odd ...whereas things from here just go via Athens to the UK ...

Yes we have it here in the mountains out east ,the power keeps going off because the damp dust makes the isolators on powerlines spark , and that trips the trip ..It's a regular thing it happens now and again, it no great problem ...the worst bit is after the dust has moved on everyone (well nearly ...

According to the Directive you don't need to prove health insurance or income in order to get the blue permanent residence certificate but most issuing officers seem to be demanding it. If the EHIC was good enough to get the beige one, where health insurance is a requirement, I don't see why it won...

I got my blue permit from the police station in Sitia in 2012 ...the most important item at that time was health insurance ....

Yes ..I had in 2001, what I thought was a full permit when I bought cheap runabout car for when I came over here for the summer and Christmas...I only got a blue residence permit in 2012....

we heat our house with olive prunings , so a chain saw is a vital bit of kit..I have a top handle kabuto with a 10 inch bar very light and easy to use ... however I'm very tempted by the new Stihl battery powered saws, they get good reviews. Anyone got one ,or tried one ?...

The other thing ..if the car is drivable, in the lane on the farside of the Halkiadakis carpark in Sitia next door to Mimi and Micheali's car mechanics workshop there is a small scrapyard ....Hope this helps ...jeff

I live out east , and the scrap guys come around every few months with a lorry with a HIAB and take scrap cars away . No paper work no problem ...just make sure you take the plates off and hand them in to the office in Sitia if it's a Greek car , if it's UK send the paper work to DVLC ...and keep th...
